Fun!
My LO (18 months) won't be getting one particularly large gift because we simply don't have the space for the wooden kitchen or table/chair set I'd love to buy her. Some of her main gifts will "go together" though - she's getting her first big baby doll, a mini Maclaren doll stroller, and a gorgeous wooden cradle for the baby doll. All this is hopes of getting her acclimated to the ins and outs of having a baby around before her little sister arrives this spring.

@PinkElephant: oh that is such a cute idea!!! I wanna steal that when I am pregnant again.
@SugarplumsMom: Score!!!!

A wooden melissa and Doug pirate ship toy. His birthday is 4 days after Christmas and we will emphasize the birthday more than Christmas (we aren't very holidays). He's going to get a bike with pedals for the birthday. Ever since this summer he has been saying "we should buy a bike with pedals for my birthday", so I can't wait to see his face when he opens it.

Nothing from us is particularly big, just a few toys. My mom bought her the vtech sit to stand train thing though, which is pretty big. And I think she'll also be getting an activity table.

Nothing - can I say that without sounding like a terrible parent?! We buy our 18 month old things throughout the year; when we see something we think she'd like or needs, we buy it and give it to her then. There's nothing she needs right now so rather than buy stuff just for the sake of buying stuff, we haven't bought anything. I know she has some gifts from grandparents coming but I think they're small things...at least I hope so!
Next year, when she's old enough to kind of get Christmas, we'll buy her some gifts, but this year, we weren't fussed.

Nothing big per say but I am leaving 1 gift for each kid unwrapped with a big bow -

@Smurfette: Yes, yes she is.
@littlek: Every day I fall a little bit more in love with you. I'm very happy to see 529 contributions listed as a Christmas gift! Maybe on Christmas morning I'll show M her account statements!

Omg I am such a cheapskate compared to everyone. LO is 14 months and has so many things already --- I got him one of those push popper thing and he is going to LOVE it, and it was $12... Ha. I figure from next year on he'll really start to "get" presents so I have some time.
And, um, we bought him a new house to live in a month ago - lol.

@hellobeeboston: not a cheapskate..lol. I figure, LO doesn't even know what the heck is going on..she just yells WOW at the tree anyway! she totally ignored the gifts under there when we decorated. I spent a total of $35 on her

A teddy bear! We are flying to visit grandparents and his birthday is two weeks later and we got him a play kitchen for that. I might buy him a few more birthday presents, if I can convince DH they are good developmental toys, haha. Or if I see any good post christmas sales.
I think we might turn the first christmas you get a teddy bear into a tradition, though!

Oh my parents bought him a little shopping cart - cant wait! It's gonna be cute.
@sorrycharlie: love that she's yelling WOW at the tree! Adorable! My LO has barely even looked at our tree, and it's enormous! Haha, oh well.

Sooooo for those of you who are afraid that you're being a cheapskate... several of our gifts to our kids (from us and from Santa) are birthday gifts we've received and put aside!! We use the things like clothes, etc immediately but I don't like to introduce a whole bunch of new toys at once, so we space them out over the year. Wagon Jr.'s birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas so this works out for him every year. We usually put aside a gift from one of his friends and use it as a Santa gift. This will probably be the last year we can do this (his 4th birthday) because he's going to start noticing now, and wanting to open his presents at the party.
That being said... with previously gifted gifts mixed in... haha... Wagon Jr. is getting a toy karaoke machine, a superhero toy, and drumsticks and headphones to go with the drum set he has earned with his sticker chart. We also have a balance bike which he'll probably be too old for next year so we might throw that in too. I also have a pair of sneakers with real laces that I hoarded.
LMW is getting the fisher price play vanity, the rain boots I hoarded for her, and some stuffed doggies.
We don't do super big gifts because the grandparents usually just ask us what the kids want, give us their credit cards and have us order them off of amazon for 2 day shipping. Haha.

@littlek: we are opening J's 529 for Christmas!
He's getting my old kitchen that my dad made me when I was little (pretty ghetto compared to what kids have now but he won't know any better!)
Shopping cart w/pretend food
Building block train
Lotsa cyber Monday clothes
