We've purchased a new house, and DH and I battle over what to do with the living room. It is designated Living/Dining, but we do not plan to use it as a dining room until well down the road with kids grown up (we only have one now with plans for more, so that's WAY down the road). This house is a bungalow and we will be finishing the basement for a large family room, for now this space will be our main living space, big L-shaped couch, big TV, two leather recliners. Knowing furniture can change (or go to basement when finished) what would you do with this room in terms of how would you lay it out?
We could move the fire place, however with the changes we have already made to the floor plan ($$) we'd prefer to leave it where it is.
I have about eight pages of graph paper where I've enlarged this and planned the room far too many ways, none of which I'm even exactly set on, there is a level of awkward to it. The door in the top right is a walk thru to kitchen, the doorway bottom, right is near the front entrance. Not sure what entrance to the room we'd use the most, my guess is the kitchen entrance.
