If you could only pick one item in your kitchen to replace, what item would it be? And the kitchen as a whole is not an option!
If I had to choose the one thing right now, I would have to say my microwave. I think it's a relic from my IL's house, given to my DH when he got his house (ten years ago). If I had to guess, I'd say it was circa 1980's. It's ancient and stained! I hate the thing but it keeps working so we keep using it...
What would you choose?

@NaturallyCathy: I got my brother a great deal on a stainless microwave from target for like $70! Keep an eye out and you might find a good deal.
We really just need to save and do a good reno/update of our kitchen.
- Paint cabinets (we already updated the knobs)
- New solid surface counters (we have yellow beige laminate)
- New undermount sink and faucet (we might try to find a new faucet before a major reno)
- Backsplash
- New range hood that is more aesthetic from underneath.
- Curtain over window

Well, happily enough the first thing that came to mind was spatulas! Our kitchen was just redone Les than two years ago so the only big thing I would do is change the cabinet between the fridge and the mudroom into a broom closet because we don't have one.

And we need to completely renovate our kitchen too but I figured that can be the next owner's problem. We've done all the other rooms, let them figure out the kitchen! The kitchen in the new house needs work too but it's low on our list of priorities.

My oven! It's not even that old, but somehow it doesn't bake things very well. It's fine with meats and savory foods, but whenever I try and make baked goods, they don't turn out right! I've even tried taking the same batch and baking some in my oven and some in my convection oven, and the ones made in the convection oven turn out better!

My double ovens. Just like @sweetchic: they don't do well with baked good for some reason. Which sucks because I love to bake!!

The cabinets. They were chosen by someone with questionable taste, and they are of poor construction.

@.twist.: That would be great! I have a smallish kitchen, but a lot of very ugly cabinets packed in there. When we moved in the walls were jungle green. I still have nightmares about it!

kitchen sink! i hate it, its too low so I have to stoop to do the dishes and theres a cabinet overhead so its dark there. So glad we are moving soon

Refrigerator, definitely. Ours is a very tiny rental-sized white one that came with the house, and it is nowhere near what I want in a fridge. I dream about a huge stainless-steel (or even black) fridge with french doors. *swoon*

Counter Tops for sure. I was going to choose cabinets but they wouldl miss match all our trim then! ha

Fridge, it just started leaking out of the freezer, and to repair them is sort of a ridiculous amount so I just need a new one, I would love to have a stainless french door with ice and water in the door and the double drawer freezer, unfortunately I don't think that is going to happen

Dishwasher, because it doesn't work...everything comes out dirtier than when I put it in. I hand wash everything and use the dishwasher as a drying rack.
Or my oven, which runs 50 degrees hotter than the display. First time I used it I couldn't figure why my brownies were burning after 20 minutes! An oven thermometer fixed that, but it would be nice for it to be properly functioning. Plus the broiler is on the bottom and I literally have to get down on the floor to use it (and take out all the sheet pans that I store there).
Or my fridge, cause it's tiny and beaten up...
Are you sure I can't just replace my whole kitchen????
Man I hate this place, I can't wait to move!

Cabinets! The last owner upgraded the counter tops to granite, nice tile backsplash, and appliances, but left the old 80's oak cabinets! =(
