Another call out to show off or tell us what project you're working on!
We're packing up our stuff soon, but I'm going to try and squeeze in making a fleece truck for my son, because he's obsessed currently.

I went to the cute little quilting store near my parents' house to get fabric for a quilt for my cousin's baby boy, who is due any day now. It's a really simple pattern so it shouldn't take too long to finish once I get started. The biggest challenge is the fact that my "sewing room" is in a converted walk-in closet with no a/c, and it gets hot in there!!

I'm working on my quilt for the state fair. I had to rip out part of the first block, so I'm a bit behind schedule.

@avivoca: Oooooooo show me show me show me
@blackbird: That's really pretty and similar to a smaller dress design (for a doll) I was going to attempt
@MediaNaranja: Yikes! Does having a fan help any? Or can you move it to a kitchen table?
@mrskc: Awwww sweet!

@scg00387: Thanks for posting this thread! I love seeing what everyone is making!!
I just made this little top based on a tutorial online:

Sorry for the blurry cell pics… this baby is always on the move!

@scg00387: I would love to make what @GreenThumb: posted, but it just looks so intimidating to me!!

@blackbird: I don't think I've seen that designer! I like the bow/strap though!
@GreenThumb: you're so fast, that was just posted recently?! super duper cute.
@mrskc: aww!! sewing machine behaving?
@MediaNaranja: that sounds miserable. you need a portable air conditioner!
@avivoca: i hate seam ripping hope the rest goes smoother!

@GreenThumb: @photojane: Agreed.I love this but I'd be worried about the ruffles. I'm not confident enough for ruffles.

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: ruffles are so easy... you should give it a go.
I am just finishing up a quilt for a baby due next month. All that is left is the binding!

@photojane: I peeked at the tutorial; I don't think it's too tricky if you dive it and try it! What do you think of this one? It's a little simpler, but a simple aesthetic. I've seen lots of them sewn up that are adorable: http://birchfabrics.blogspot.com/2013/08/free-pattern-tutorial-featuring-eiko-by.html

@scg00387: Finished it during naps this week. It really took no time at all, but I've got the sewing bug! And, I totally have that Birch Fabrics pattern saved, too! So cute! Can't wait to try it. We are packing, too, with everything going into storage while we find a place to live, so I had to pick some things to keep out so I can stay busy. I have some little felt finger puppets I'm making for my nephew and a baby sweater and ballet shoes for my niece.
@photojane: You can do it!
@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: Like @Radish: said, ruffles are actually pretty easy, they just look hard.

@GreenThumb: OMG! That is adorable!
@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: @scg00387: I haven't really made too many yet. This is all I have made so far. I'm currently more of a hoarder of supplies! Lol! Couldn't resist the cheap elastic I found from elastic by the yard. And I have a bunch if jersey knit material to make some too.

@scg00387: yes it has been behaving! I sewed a crib skirt, pillow cover, and basket liners for the nursery with no issues!

@mrskc: Thanks! And your headband making supplies make me jealous!! DD won't keep a headband on, but she finally has enough hair to wear clips, so I've made a few felt bows and flowers for her. Sounds like you have great projects for the nursery!! What colors/fabric are you using?

I'm going to attempt to make a hot air balloon/cloud/elephant mobile for our little one due in October. I'm not a seamstress at all so this will be a challenge.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts
@Mrs.Panda: Are you making it with felt? I adore working in felt! If there's anything I can do to help let me know!
nectarine / 2358 posts
@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: Yes it is felt! So that made it a little less intimidating looking (to me). I figured if I didn't have to finish edges that's one step easier haha. I am pulling the hot air balloon from this tutorial http://www.howjoyful.com/2012/07/nursery-felt-hot-air-ballon-mobile-tutorial-and-pattern/ though I haven't decided which balloon style to go with. I ultimately want the mobile to look similar to the picture below but with the elephants being a little different? Haven't decided. I would love to buy from Etsy but the price tag just doesn't fit right now

@GreenThumb: the nursery is navy, coral and gold. I used a premier prints fabric with dandelions on it. I can sew simple things so these projects were easy enough for me. I love that top you made. Maybe I'll attempt to make some clothes for my baby girl. Clothes intimidate me for some reason.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts
@Mrs.Panda: The hot air balloons look super impressive but they'd probably be beyond my skill set. I know when I was looking at making a mobile with hot air balloons, I stumbled across this design and liked it a lot especially since I knew it would be within my abilities. So if you get frustrated, don't give up! Maybe just tweak the design

And if you need a new design for the elephants, let me know. I could probably sketch something up for you!

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: Thank you I appreciate it! Let's hope I can do this with minimal frustration lol

@GreenThumb: super cute! I haven't tried any clothes yet, but we have a crafting night coming up, so this might be something I could do then.
