We recently canceled hbo and showtime, so something on basic cable or regular tv.
Probably a drama. We don't watch much tv so we probably haven't seen it!

@Mrs. Bee: What shows do you watch now? I think I remember MrBee saying that he loves Scandal. What other shows have you seen?

I think that Netflix still have their month free, so 'House of Cards' would be worth a watch: we're up to episode 6 and it's been great so far, especially Kevin Spacey's performance.
Otherwise, I'm addicted to things like Nature and Shakespeare Uncovered on PBS, but DW isn't so keen!

Vote for Downton Abbey!
I really do want to start watching Mad Men though, I've heard AWESOME reviews!

another vote for mad men, also breaking bad! downton abbey also good.

YES to Downton. Also, it's a little cheesy but we loved 24 back in the day. It got a bit repetitive in later seasons but the first few were great and addictive.

@Mrs. Bee: DH and I watch both Mad Men and Downton Abbey. You definitely have to start both from the beginning--you'll be lost if you watch out of order. DH likes DA, but I think he definitely prefers MM. I can't decide which one I like more, but that Don Draper sure is dreamy...

Do you get BBC America? Besides Downton Abbey (which is awesome), Ripper Street is also fun and a good drama. On the BBC vein; Luther and Life on Mars were also great!
ETA: only the British "Life on Mars" was good. The American remake sucked, as is generally the case.

Chicago fire is surprisingly good, although I don't know if you'd get it ? (Completely clueless on how American tv works with cable stuff)

How I met yout Mother and Elementary are my favourites that are on right now. Sherlock is amazing if you haven't seen it.

I'm another voter for Mad Men. They have a ton of seasons on Netflix!

I just started watching Parenthood on Netflix, I really like it.

Have you seen the BBC's Sherlock? It's hard for us to find shows that we both like and we love this one! I'm pretty sure all the episodes are on Netflix.

Breaking Bad and Mad Men are great shows...If you don't mind gore and some very, very explicit tv, I think Game of Thrones and Walking Dead are also really entertaining.

@Mrs. Bee: Downton Abbey. I just watched Seasons 1-3 on amazon prime for free. Great show!!!

CSI:Miami has been my go to lately. I am at season 7 and may have watched half of a season over 2 days. I'm going to be sad when I'm done with the show.

Or the killing. Though it isnt on anymore (netflix?).

We just started The Following and like it. It's suspenseful. I second Chicago Fire and Parenthood. Love Parenthood!

I love Scandal, Nashville, Chicago Fire, & Deception. I always have to record Chicago Fire because it comes on at the same time as Nashville. Sons of Anarchy is good but the new season hasn't started yet.

Mad men is awesome! As is how I met your mother, both much better when watched from the begining. Parenthood is good & I love modern family. We just got the last season of weeds and I'm very sad to see the show end, but such an awesome show! We've never watched 30 rock in the past, but it is our new favorite show to marathon, so many seasons on Netflix! Nurse Jackie is also a good one!
