They're probably empty. I read somewhere royals carry clutches so they don't have to shake hands.

I know they said something during the royal wedding that the Queens clutch fell open once and it was an extra pair of pantyhose, lipstick and a makeup compact. That they don't carry any cash on them.

@mediagirl: I read this too in a NY Times article about the royals. Women carry clutches to avoid having to shake the hands of commoners.

My guess is a slim cellphone, lipstick and blotting paper. Their escort probably carries the cash, credit cards and ID for both.

@Mamaof2: LOL good question. These are people who don't even have last names technically so I'm fairly confident they don't carry wallets. I would say lipstick and makeup at most.

I've been carrying a clutch lately. It has a phone, pens, credit card, keys and lipstick. I think that's what they have!

Poison antidote! Kidding, of course.
I am dying that the queen had pantyhose in her clutch. I would have expected that a staffer would have a full kit for her off to the side in case of a wardrobe malfunction.
