Local, but what @JoJoGirl: said as well. Once the freeze comes, then it's down to seeing what the natural store can ship in at a reasonable price and trying to find the least-treated produce possible at the chain stores.

@oliviaoblivia: @JoJoGirl: yes, this! In the winter, the answer is usually "neither." But in the summer, it's "walk your butt down to the farmers' market and get some apples, girl!"

I prefer local, and after spending the last 3 years living in basically a locally-grown food wasteland, I am thrilled to finally be living in an area where I can visit the farmer's market and have my very own CSA subscription!

Organic when I'm at the supermarket. Preferably organic, but also local, when I'm at the Farmer's Market. Especially for the Dirty Dozen and if I'm making purees for the baby.

We buy local organic from certified vendors at our neighborhood farmer's market so I'd say both. But if I had to choose one, I'd say local! I just feel like it's so much fresher and better for the environment.
