Colored or dark jeans and an embellished T-shirt. Or a more plain shirt with a long necklace or some other statement piece (like bracelet if wearing short sleeves).

I feel like the type of jean makes it dressy or not! A dark rinse trouser style is more professional, and pair with a simple blouse and I think it looks way better than the khaki and polos
I also think dresses are a good way to go.
Possibly a relaxed style dress pant with a basic blouse as well.

Business casual for women is tough...I agree that unless you're doing jeans, dress pants feel too dressed up.

When we were business casual (I think we still are, but the trend has gone more formal recently), I wore a lot of solid colored dress pants, like navy, black, gray and brown with a printed tank and a long cardigan.

Maybe something like these?

I was going to say something similar to what @lawbee11: posted. Cute, fitted pants and a dressy shirt. It might be slightly dressier than the standard "khaki's and polo" for guys, but it's more fun, too!

The old navy pixie pant! Bit dressier than jeans, but not dress pants. So many colour options too.

I would say a casual dress with flats or slim fitting khakis with a cute blouse and cardigan. I don't LOVE wearing khakis because they feel so 90's to me for some reason (I guess probably because I wore them with my school uniform in the 90's), BUT it makes a huge difference if the fit is more modern and stream-lined, rather than the bleated and baggy mess of yesteryear. I would say look at Loft or Boden online for inspiration.

All above suggestions are great. I would wear chinos or pencil pants, a dressy tank/shell and a cardigan.

During the summer I wear a lot of sundresses + cardigans.

@CatchAFallingStar: Love the that look. I have pants like that so I might try that.
