Gosh I can't even remember. I used to play video games, and some of those had a multiplayer experience... that was probably my first experience with a small online community.
Other than that, I tend to spend most of my time on online communities that I'm working on!

Oh man, im kind of embarassed to admit it, but i was totally hooked on a online multiplayer game called Puzzle pirates. For like, 3 years. I actually met my first long term boyfriend on there, lol. I am still in touch with a couple friends that i met there too. 3 of them came to my wedding!

A political site while I was writing my thesis. It was a good distraction while I was glued to the computer. But it was depressing, so then when I changed over to happier things.

I was on a telnet board... can't remember how I found it or what it was called, but the theme was a cruise ship. I had a "boyfriend" on there. Haha. It was in middle school.

This is embarrassing...
The USS Jaguar (which morphed into the United Federation of Kids).
When I was just a kid (this might have ever been before the 13+ laws, although maybe I was 13, I joined an on-line starship, called the USS Jaguar. This was a forum based RPG website created by a kid for other kids who were fans of Star Trek. I was a lowly Engineer, but made my way up the ranks to Chief Engineer, then Commander, then Captain (at that point, there were multiple ships and we were a Federation... oh my gosh, I'm such a loser).
I was part of that community for probably FIVE YEARS. And then I went to college, haha. Oh, so I must've been 13 when I originally joined. And I'm STILL friends with many of the girls and boys I met there!

Myspace or MSN Messenger if that counts in high school, online chatting with friends and boys from neighboring schools, it was a BIG deal when I was 16-18, on it for hours at a time.

AOL, geocities (does this count?? i don't remember if it was an actual community or webpage making site), and i was hooked on a game called tetrinet and i was in a crew that always battled other crews. i think that counts!
