Mine was, "Is she still a girl?!"
We bought very few gender neutral things so we were going to be screwed if she was in fact a boy! The OB laughed and said, "Yes!!"
What's the first thing you said?

I think I said "is it a girl?" because we were but I just knew LO was a girl.

I think I also asked if it was still a girl!
Then when I saw her, I said "she looks so Asian!". DH is Caucasian & I am Asian, so we didn't know what she would look like. She looked exactly like me.

Probably something like "oh my god. It's really here."
We were team green and ha in my birth plan that I wanted Dh to tell me the sex. The nurse had to remind him to look! When he said its a girl I know I said, "really??" We were so sure she was a boy.

Lol! That was my second sentence exactly! All I could think was we had nothing for a boy! The first thing I said was, "is she ok?" She wasn't crying very much and it freaked me out!

"you're handing her to me already". For some reason after three hours of pushing, it seemed like hey handed her to me really quickly ha ha! My husband still teases me about this one!

"Can I see him?" I had a C-section and it seemed like forever before they brought him to me!

I honestly don't remember! =/ probably something like oh my god, or wow...I was so out of it. I think my husband was out of it too because he had to be reminded to announce the sex, and then he said, ”it looks like we've got us a boy!”

@mrsbookworm: Word for word, same exact thing - and reason. Although I will confess that they initially said yes, but asked if I wanted him cleaned up first. DH looked at him on the other side of the curtain and said yes for me...that probably sounds awful but he knows how horrendously squeamish I am and figured it would be a much more pleasant meeting once my blood and such was wiped off of him. Yeah, he was right. But I still asked 'can I see him' about a million times.

I think I asked if "he was okay" because I didn't hear a cry... but that's a whole other story.

"I think I'm going to be sick"
I had a c-section and she had meconium, so they whisked her to the table to be wiped off and swaddled. But while I was looking at her across the room and waiting, I got super nauseous and threw up.
But when I actually saw her up close for the first time and got to touch her I said, "Aww, She's so soft."

Hmmmm I'm not 100% sure. I think "I know" ?? I had a c-section and we had a peds team there bc they were concerned about meconium in her water and her heart rate towards the end of my attempted vaginal labor, so we were a bit concerned about if she was okay. When she came out she was wailing (good sign!!) and my husband started crying and said "she's crying!! we did that! we made her!" and I said "I know!" lol and then i think i told him to go see her and take a picture bc he was still holding my hand and they'd taken her away to check her over and i wanted to see her asap.

"That's the best sound in the world" -- heard her crying after she was born (csection)
Theyet me hold her while I was wheeled to recovery & I said, "are you sure I'm allowed to hold her?" That got me a laugh and the nurse said "yes! She's yours! You even get to take her home!"

I said something like I couldn't believe how blond her hair was b/c mine is almost black and my husband's is darkish brown. She's now more of a strawberry blond/light auburn.

I don't remember! Maybe "hi baby!" I got to pull her up to my chest immediately so I was holding her right away
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
I don't really remember, but I probably said something like "OMG, next time I want an epidural!"
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
I'm not sure. Honestly as soon as I heard the nurse say "Look at all that hair!" as he was pulled out (c section) I literally bawled my eyes out. It was the hardest I ever cried. Like super duper ugly wailing (happy) crying. I don't remember much else.
Probably a whole lot of babbling through my tears. Haha!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Awww
Mine was "He's blonde? Why is he blonde? Im so confused." Heart warming, no?
DH: "Welcome to the world, little one! We have been waiting for you!"

My delivery was sort of a shit show, so I have no idea what I said after they were actually born. However, when my husband brought them over to me in the OR I said something along the lines of "Ive waited so long to meet you" to Alice and "you scared me to death. I'm so glad you're ok" to Blake.

@Smurfette: @wonderstruck: we were TG and after 28 hours of labor, 2.5 hours of pushing , I was so excited to find out the sex .
Dh said "it's a girl !" At the exact same time , the nurse said " it's a boy!"
Dh and I both obviously believed the nurse since she is a medical professional and all .... So for about 30 seconds we thought we had a son until the doctor told us my husband was right in the first place, Lol!!

@Charm54: how did the nurse see a penis that wasn't there?!!
