I thanked God like 20 times in a row. Looked at the look on my DH's face and thought he was gonna pass out and said "she's here!"

I said, "baby, i can't believe you're finally here!" and started sobbing, haha. i probably scared the crap outta her!

@Smurfette: LOL I don't know if she got confused with umbilical cord maybe?! I was worried I had popped twins out for a second!!
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
I don't remember what I said exactly but I remember the first thing that popped in my head when I saw her "she's huge...she looks like a little gremlin!" I think the first thing I said was something like "is she ok?"

"Is she ok? Is she going to be ok? She's a girl right? Happy birthday baby! Is she going to be ok?"

I kinda remember a mix of hi, oh my god, wow, I love you.
To DH I just kept saying, we have a daughter, we have a little girl.

@Mrs. Tea: I felt the same way! I pushed for three hours and then all of a sudden he was only chest!
I said "my baby!"

@MrsH: I said the same thing. And why do the bowls they hand you have to be so small?! I puked into it so forcefully that it shot out all over the doctor. Oops.

I think I said something like "Oh my God I did it." And then followed up by "Is is a boy or girl?" We were Team Green.

I honestly couldn't remember until my husband reminded me. I said "Don't look at me." He said he was trying to check and see if I was okay, but I wanted him to go see the baby (I didn't get skin to skin right away - they whisked him to the warmer).

"How much does she weigh???" The ultrasound had predicted she would be 9.5lbs but she was only 6lbs10oz.

I was put under and clueless, so when I woke up I asked DH, "What just happened?!"

Don't remember exactly but one of my first comments was "don't take pictures of her goods". DH was under strict instruction, waist up only... What if she wants to be president one day?

Nothing at first I just stared because I was so amazed and then I said my baby

"OMG why is he so purple?"
It never occured to me that they don't come out perfectly peachy. He got 9s and 10s on all his APGAR scores

@lamariniere: I don't remember what I said after birth either!! I was a ball of nerves through the whole process. I'm guessing I asked how much he weighed bc he quit growing in utero at 32 weeks, but delivered him (induction) at 37 weeks.

@Charm54: I can't stop laughing! lol!
I can't remember! I'll have to search Hb one of these days to write it in the baby book, cause I know i've written it here before!

"She looks so big...she is a she right?" and followed by "is she okay, what's wrong with her, DH tell me what's going on" (she was having problems breathing)
I had the delivery room laughing with the first part, and then I started to shake and the Anesthesiologist was trying to get me to calm down.
honeydew / 7091 posts
I think it was something along the lines of "Oh my gosh, already?"
I had been pushing for a couple hours, they brought the Dr in and she came out first push! I thought he'd be there for 10-20 minutes at least. And, I didn't even feel her come out! So all of a sudden he was holding up a baby??!! It was crazy and I couldn't believe it

@Charm54: I'm scared that someone who had been through nursing school could not tell the difference - how confusing! LOL

My first words weren't great, and I wish I didn't remember them. They were, "Why isn't he crying?" about 50 times over. I ended up with an emergency C-section and he also had meconium in his lungs, and he had a fever because I had one going into the OR. Those were by far the scariest minutes of my life.
Once they did get him breathing and cleaned up, they needed to take him to the NICU due to his fever. They brought him over to me for about 10 seconds where my true first words to him were. Those were, "Hi sweetpea!"

i don't remember which was first or second but i really wanted to know his weight and what his apgar scores were. also, i wanted to see him! i was lying on the operating table after c-section and i couldn't see him very well when they were weighing him etc.

My first thing wasn't so cute...
"I feel like I've been torn in two!!!" The anesthesiologist, on hand for the forceps delivery, had to load me up with heavy duty painkillers. I didn't even want to hold the baby because I was shaking so violently I thought I would drop her.
Once the meds kicked in, I was simply speechless. Love my little pumpkin!

First: "Oh my God!" x100
Second: "Wow she's loud!" (I was still saying that almost an hour later... she was a screamer.)
coconut / 8079 posts
I kept asking if he was ok. Then they let me see him for like 5 seconds and I said something about him being big and told everyone his name (it was a surprise) before they rushed him to the NICU.

I kept saying 'oh my god!' Over and over. I remember feeling SO relieved and amazed at the same time!

I immediately started crying and kept saying "she's perfect, she's perfect"
I think after about 30 seconds or so I finally said, "she is a she, right?"

OMG to all three! With my third the ring of fire was so so bad, I screamed what the hell is that!!?? lol

I don't remember, but I think it was "I did it! She's here!"
I definitely remember that the first thing DH said was "Your belly! It's gone!" Haha. He was in shock I guess.
