What's the largest age gap you'd consider between kids?

Just to clarify, I don't think age gaps are a big deal I just meant for personal preference of how far apart your kids would ideally be.

My first two are two min apart, and the last one is 2 years 5 mo younger, which I think is ideal. IF we were to ever have another, I would want it within 2-3 years as well.... Only cuz I don't want first and last to be so far apart.

Doesn't matter to me. I'm much closer to my brother who is 4 years older than the one who is 2 years younger.

I don't really have a cut-off. DH's next sibling is 18 months younger, then 18 months after that, then 5 years after that, making him 8 years older than his youngest sibling. He is by far closest to his youngest sibling, so big age gaps don't scare me in that way. I don't think I want to be in the baby phase of life that long, but if we do have a 3rd, I could imagine having a 3-4 year age gap.

For my first two I wanted < 3 year difference because I knew we would be moving a lot and they wouldn't have other close in age cousins, so we wanted them to have each other. For the rest we don't really have a limit.

No cutoff here, my brother is 4 years younger and I remember helping care for him, it was pretty fun!

@sandy: I'm very excited to hear that!

My best friend has 3 that are all 7 years apart. She likes having them in different stages, and feels like she can really focus on each kid. It also helps that the oldest can help babysit!

i don;t want more than a 4 year gap, but it is for me, not my kids. By having their childhoods overlap i will be raising kids for overall less time I mean that in the best way possible. I just can't imagine having like a 10 year old and then having to start all over with a newborn and go through age 0-10 separate from the first one. That's basically adding on 6 years to my life of child-rearing years versus if i have my second when LO1 is 4 max.

I like the idea of having adult relationships with both my kids too at the same time.

My age is also a factor and the longer I wait for the next kid, the older I am getting and I am currently at the age i would like to be done TTC.
