My 4 month old was going every two days for a few weeks & now it's been 4 days! We blended up some pears & water & gave it to her hoping it will get things moving...I feel so bad for her!

My LO went two days no poo so I skipped solids a day and it cleared her out. That was unusual for her because normally she goes at LEAST twice a day so I was mildly concerned being it was so not her norm. She is a poopster!

We got to five days once. I tried pears and when nothing happened, I gave him a little prune juice mixed with water.

24 hours which was a while for a girl that goes 2-3 times a day...
I second what @mrsbookworm: said. I have many friends who swear by prune juice.

@Greentea: she had her 4 month wellness exam on Monday & when I ask her pedi she suggested starting solids to help her, specifically rice cereal. It didn't really do anything the first time gave it to her so I stopped. I do let her taste different things from my plate...but this is the first time we made something just for her & she actually had a few baby spoons of it. That's the most solids she's ever gotten! I hope it helps her

Fifteen days. Yes, FIFTEEN!! Her pediatrician said if her tummy wasn't hard, she wasn't vomiting, she was happy, no fever, etc she was fine but that if she didn't within two weeks to bring her in. She went like normal when she did go, I was so worried though!

I've considered prune juice! We'll try that if the pears don't work!

13 days. It's normal for an EBF baby to not poop often. They're very efficient at using the nutrients. LO was a once every week or two pooper for a long time.

@Bao: her tummy hasn't been hard but she has been spitting up copious amounts the past two days...

@Mrs. Sunshine: I honestly wouldn't worry that much EBF babies do not need to poop as much.

My 5 month old sometimes goes four or five days between poops which I believe is normal. Like someone said previously, EBF babies use most of the nutrients they intake so there isn't a lot of waste left over. Everything I've read has said that its common for EBF babies to go a week between poops.

12 days. Like PP we were told not to be concerned unless other symptoms indicated discomfort. We finally did end up trying a suppository (after prune juice didn't work). Baby poop seems to vary so much from baby to baby!

It was 4 or 5 days. My LO also would spit up much more when she was backed up.

Thanks guys! Hopefully I can convince DH that it's okay! He's so worried about her; the pears were his idea!

@Mrs. Sunshine: oh I see! Poor LO. I hope she feels better. My LO only got backed up when we started solids. Tummy time seems to help my LO work it out.

My LO is a once a weeker. Around day 4 and 5 she gets really uncomfortable and I feel so badly for her

My babe was once a week til we started solids, and our ped wasn't a bit concerned. It was sort of funny - he always pooped on Saturday mornings, like clockwork!

It was around 2 1/2 - 3 weeks without a BM. Our dr wasn't concerned and she exploded when she did go eventually.

Ds went #2 once a week from months 4-7ish. Doc said completely normal so I enjoyed it!

For those whose babies went only every few days, when did they start doing that? My LO is 6.5 weeks and is going ~4 times per day and I'm wondering if that's likely to slow down sometime soon?

She's gone 3 days before but it's not usual. She's a 1-2 x per day gal these days. She used to go 3 -4 x per day.

10 days each twin had this happen a few times. Plus we would joke that my daughter would only poop for the nanny; waiting all weekend until Monday. l Breastmilk is the perfect food and almost all is digestable leaving nothing "extra" to come out so to say.
