I had a ton when I spent a summer in the Caribbean, and they were really itchy, and I scratched them in my sleep. Many of them got infected and turned into sores. They were horrible. When my sister saw them, her eyes got really big when I told her they were mosquito bites and asked "how big were the mosquitoes?"
Kids afterbite maybe? My brother used to suffer from North American mosquito bites.

I studied abroad in college and I swear - the mosquitos knew we were foreign and couldn't wait to get a taste! I don't generally get too many mosquito bites so I was shocked to have 20 or 30 at a time in the beginning! I would cover up at night under thick wool blankets and I would still get bit any place that was exposed like my eyelids and lips!

Aww. Poor charlie! I had a TON when I visited Korean during the summer of 1985 ( I was 5 years old!) Parents sent me and my sister out there to visit family.
My mom was really upset when we got home and she saw that I had bites all over my body.

Well I have forty+ new ones today after working in the yard yesterday. This is after I had over fifty last weekend. I'm one of those lucky people who mosquitoes love, I got those despite practically bathing in bug spray!

Head-to-toe, no lie. Several years ago I was in a remote village in Guyana and was eaten alive by mosquitoes and cabora (similar insect but worse). Literally, head to toe.

I once was on a two week highschool trip in the swamps of Indonesia. One night I counted 152 bites on my legs ALONE. My knees were completely swollen out of shape. I gave up counting the ones on the rest of my body. Needless to say, I got both malaria and dengue fever after that trip. And yes, I reapplied insect repellent every hour or so and slept under a mosquito net.

too many to count. Once, I had a huge mosquito bite on my ankle and that was surrounded by chigger bites. My ankle swelled up so bad. I actually thought it was a spider bite, but my doctor said no.

I've had over 100 on my shins alone once as a kid. I was playing soccer on a swampy field.

i got them bad when i went to malaysia several summers ago. probably 30 or more and big nasty ones even though we covered ourselves with DEET.
a couple of years ago when DH and i went to hawaii to visit friends, i got them on my eyelids and it looked like someone punched me. i was staying with friends and the next year we visited, they had had a baby, so they were maxed out with the mosquito protection, so i barely got any that year!

Last year I mysteriously had 50+ bites all over my arms and legs, and I had NO idea why!! I didn't go anywhere forest-y or swampy and they just suddenly appeared. The first day I had 20ish bites, then the next day 30+ bites, and then the next day I counted over 50!! It was so bizarre...

@mrbee: I'm not sure about mites, but we don't think it was bed bugs because my husband didn't get any bites. And after that once incident, it didn't happen again!

I did an archaeological field study at Madison Parish, Louisiana... and got 127 bites the first day, 80-ish the next day... and after that they all blended together in a giant red bumpy horrid rash. I was ridiculously itchy for a long long time.
When I was 18 months old, I got so many mosquito bites (I was in China) that they thought I had hives and kept me in the hospital!
I react really badly to mosquito bites (like quarter sized raised welts.
