We also laugh a lot, we have similar ideals/morals, and we have a shared vision for our future (that sounds kind of corny!). Plus he's cute and he adores me

I've got two:
1) It takes work. People are mysterious, and to think that you can just understand each other in every possible scenario is a bit naive.

2) People only let you see what they want you to see. Chances are, every couple has rough patch and just because they are smiling on the outside doesn't mean they are smiling on the inside. Don't force yourself to live up to ideals that may not be true.

We still find books to read. I recently reread the "For Women Only" book that I read right after we got married, and it helps a lot. He had a "For Men Only" that was great too. Both books show the opposite sex how to communicate and talk about how men/women think, and kind of how they're wired.

I'll have to think about this one, not sure if we necessarily have a secret, though.

What a great perspective Mr. Bee! We also haven't had much time to ourselves, and like you I don't regret it because this precious time with our baby is not a time we can ever get back.

@maisymay, those books are our secret! We read them before we got married and are going through them again now, two years later. It's our Sunday night ritual

We also talk to each other A LOT, which might seem strange, but we know so many couples who eat dinner with the tv on and don't get past "Hi, how was your day."

I think the most important thing is communication. If you can communicate, then everything else will fall into place - whether you need "me" time, that you can trust each other, that you can laugh together, etc. All of that takes communication.

Hubs and I still have our differences when it comes to things and we don't always agree, and sometimes things bother us, but we know how to communicate what's on our mind and being able to talk about our issues makes the issue seem so much less important.
