@blackbird: oh she looks great! That IS something to aspire to. I love that she is in a bikini!

I find it motivating! I know that I make excuses to not work out or to eat things I shouldn't. She looks great and she should be proud!
I did blow up at DH back when LO was first born because he had no concept how long it would take us to get things done in the evening and was saying how there was no reason why we each shouldn't have at least an hour to work out each night.

People are way too sensitive, IMO. I doubt she meant to "fat-shame" other women/mom's, but rather motivate them. As PP's have mentioned, a lot of mom's use their kids as an excuse to not eat healthy and exercise and she is trying to say that it IS possible to have a healthy and active lifestyle, even with young children. I mean, hey, if you're okay with how you look and feel great, awesome! I don't think she's telling every mom that they have to look like a personal trainer or model, but if you want change, you have to work hard to get there.

@Pirouette: you said what I was thinking! My SIL is a fitness instructor at a gym and it is her job to stay in amazing shape. My job right now is getting a graduate degree and being a WAHM. Different priorities, but it doesn't make either of us wrong. I do think sometimes that if I bragged about my grades the way some people brag about how they work out, I'd get laughed off the internet.

What bugs me is more pressure on a new mom to do it all.

I'm not offended by it but I do think it's off-putting for reasons that have been stated above. I also don't find it motivating in the slightest.

@blackbird: I was reading her site - I love this quote of hers!
<<It wasn’t until I became a mother when I began to truly love my body…loving it for what it was truly created for. I am twenty pounds lighter than I was when I first became pregnant. I instinctively know that my body responds to me now because it knows that I will feed it, love it and nurture it. It knows I’m not saying, “I hate you” or “I feel gross” or not feed it because of anger, depression or fear.
My body knows it is loved.>>

@Bookish: ha I couldn't agree more!
I always find it crazy how people need to brag so much on the internet about working out. You should brag about your grades, haha!

My excuse is that I'm not a recovering bulimic, as this woman is. Getting back the body you had prepregnancy is quite different than achieving fitness perfection post baby.

I am not envious or inspired by her at all, which i think were her goals with the picture.

@Mrs. J: @pui: @Mrs. Polish: Ditto to all you've said. Also, I think she's right- it's not HER that women are mad at. There are rarely valid excuses for meeting your own goals. Hers just happened to be looking the way she does, and she did it.

@.twist.: Agreed! She has to look the part and live by her fitness mantra for her fitness blog. Maybe we should create a 50 state alliance mommy fitness blog and check up on one another and post pics to force us to look good too?? LOL

@T.H.O.U.: I think you hit the nail on the head. There could be a whole series of pictures of a working moms doing elaborate crafts with her kids, a stay-at-home mom with a side business, a mom that makes all her own baby food from scratch, a mom that cloth diapers, a mom that exclusively breastfeeds, a mom that makes all of her kids cloths, etc. etc. with the tagline "What's your excuse".

I am not offended. I am a little envious though! I wish I looked like that after kids but I don't! At the same time she is a fitness trainer so its her JOB to look like that! My job is to sit on my fat a$$ all day and type on the computer....hence my fat a$$

@TemperanceBrennan: truly! And each one would cause the same uproar, because each one has a group of people who can't or don't or won't do those things.
We all just have to be happy for each other's successes and be inspired by one another. Peace! LOL
