I was just watching one of his movies and realized that while I love Johnny Depp, I'm not sure if I love any of his movies.

Cry-baby, campy but good.
Blow, just love!
Chocolat, such a sweet film.

Edward Scissorhands and Cry baby.
But my favorite Johnny Depp work is 21 Jump Street. Swoon.

reading all these title, it's hard to choose. i agree that crybaby, benny and joon, edward scissorhands, Chocolat and whats eating gilbert grape are all great movies!
but the first one that came to mind was Charlie and the chocolate factory, and Finding Neverland.
BUT i just looked at the link and OF COURSE my fave is Pirates of the Caribbean! How could i forget?!

There's a lot of stuff Johnny Depp has done that I DON'T like, actually. Maybe his animated movies are my favorite? I like The Corpse Bride and Rango.

His fantastic in Pirates of the Caribbean. The role is so fitting!

Sleepy Hollow!
@LinzR: I like that one, too - definitely creepy! John Turturro was great in that, too.

@maybebaby: HAHA I was just going to say that!!
Honestly, I loved 21 Jump Street more than ANY movie he was ever in.

@mrsjazz: @mediagirl: I also loved 21 Jump Street! It's on Hulu so I watched a bunch of episodes last year!!
coconut / 8234 posts
@mrbee: My co-worker has it on DVD, so I borrowed it from her. So funny to watch it now, especially when you see all the guest stars at a young age, too.
My stupid autotext on my phone changed Depp to Dell in my previous post.

I love all the Pirates movies, Cry Baby, What's eating Gilbert Grape and Chocolat. I liked Finding Neverland too haha.. kind of cheesy but really sweet.
I heart Johnny Depp.. although his weird accent kind of annoys me during interviews! What's up with it!?

@mrsjazz: I didn't see your post until Mr Bee mentioned it. Ditto.

@mrbee: Thanks!
@mediagirl: I mentor a teenage girl and when the 21 Jump Street movie came out she went to see it and kept telling me I needed to go see it. She had no clue about the original so I had to school her and tell her that that meathead Channing Tatum and his sidekick Jonah Hill can't even compare to Johnny, Peter, and Dustin. I think I'm going to watch some 21 Jump Street today.

Benny and Joon and Edward Scissorhands. I saw them both when I was relatively young and before I realized Johnny Depp was so famous and I loved them! They are still some of my favorite movies.

Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare on Elm Street (because I love the whole series!).
pineapple / 12526 posts
Crybaby! lol. Love that movie.
Also a fan of his 90s Tim Burton movies (Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow) and Sweeney Todd.
I really hated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I love the original and the book and I felt like they really ruined the childlike magic that made them both so great. It felt like they were trying too hard.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@zippylef: I hated the new Charlie & the Chocolate Factory too. haaaated.
It's hard to choose just one, but I love the following works of his:
Fear & Loathing
The Ninth Gate
Sleepy Hollow
Blow
From Hell
Sweeney Todd
Once Upon A Time in Mexico was good too but not one of my favourite for him.
I also enjoy the Caribbean movies but they are definitely not his best works...

Edward Scissorhands! I have the DVD and watch it a few times a year.
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@.twist.: I also really liked the Ninth Gate! It got savaged by critics, but I think it's really underrated...
pineapple / 12526 posts
@.twist.: I actually liked From Hell too. It came out at the height of my true crime/serial killers/ Jack the Ripper phase, so thats probably why. lol

edward scissor hands.
i love johnny depp... i did like NEVERLAND as well.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@mrbee: Me too! I didn't watch it when it came out, I was too young, but ended up watching it when I was a teenager. I really love it. I feel like people expect his movies to be out-of-this-world amazing because of what a unique actor he is, but honestly, he doesn't pick rolls for the fame. I think he picks them because he truly feels like he can relate to and express that character best. I think the movies he's in need to be appreciated on a different level. hahaha
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@.twist.: Yah totally... that movie also had a lot of layers and I think most critics didn't get that.
Soo.... who was the Girl? Was she a guardian angel... or was she the devil?
pineapple / 12802 posts
@mrbee: haha. I have no idea... I may have to watch the movie again, maybe I have learned something in between the years I've seen it and the answer will become clear to me at the next viewing.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas....that is one of my favorite movies of all time!
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@.twist.: Haha I just googled it, and apparently the answer is in the DVD commentary.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@mrbee: I just went and read a few theories and it seems to be pretty conclusive. I may have to check out the commentary just to see if it goes along with what everyone seems to think!
