I actually loved Trolls! I haven't seen Moana yet, but I hear that was very good. I also saw Zootopia and thought it was good and Peter's Dragon (which was good, but not my favorite). I haven't seen Secret Life of Pets, but I heard that's very cute.

LO is a big fan of Despicable Me, and I have to say it's pretty funny. I also liked the Secret Life of Pets too. Love the movies that put some humor in for the parents.

I liked Zootopia! Specifically that I can watch it more than once and not get tired of it. I also love the Pixar short film Piper, that is on Finding Dory. DD asks to watch it all the time.

I really liked Zootopia until my son made us watch it once a week...now I'm a little burnt out. I do still find it funny even with the burn out, so I guess it isn't that bad.
I really liked Moana as well!
Lastly, Kubo and the Two Strings was amazing. The story was intense, emotional, and entertaining to watch. And the animation is really cool and different from the current style. It is more of an older/mature animated movie (and DS didn't watch it with us), but it was so good!

Definitely Moana. I haven't seen Trolls or Sing yet.

We just Redboxed Storks and loved it SO MUCH. Even DH thought it was great. (It is pretty much targeted for new parents). My mom told me she assumed I was renting it for DD to watch. Ha, DD still isn't allowed to watch movies, this was for us.
Zootopia was excellent as well. Can't wait to see Moana.

Curious - do you guys use Common Sense Media at all when deciding what to show your kids? I'm asking b/c my sister suggested it to me as a resource, and it's saying a lot of these movies people are mentioning are appropriate for 6 and up or 8 and up....obviously everyone is different and needs to make their own choices, but those age designations are making me think that maybe the site is going to be way too conservative for my tastes. I thought SING looked really cute/funny....Common Sense Media says 10+, I believe?!?! Is there really anything THAT scary/offensive in these movies?
My kids have hardly seen any movies - pretty much just Frozen - but that's because of lack of time, not because I don't want them to see them. Frozen gets a 5 years and up....ooops!

@PinkElephant: no, I never look at that site!

We're still pretty hung up on Finding Dory at home, but I adored Moana. Can't stop listening to the soundtrack. We spontaneously took the boys to it on New Years and it was amazing! I may have cried a bit... I swear I saw my husband wiping tears, but he denies it
I guarantee we'll be going to see Lego Batman as soon as it comes out. #momofboys
We recently Redboxed Secret Life of Pets, which was cute. They boys were nuts watching it, so we'll wait to Redbox Sing and Trolls.

@PinkElephant: no I never look up movies - we are pretty laid back but that is in part because my older son doesn't scare easily

@PinkElephant: So, I haven't looked at Common Sense Media until recently. A lot of the times, I think movies look cute, but I have no clue what's actually in them and I tend to want to see them first, before my son sees them.
We recently went to see Sing in the theater, my son just turned 6 and I would say it was appropriate for him. And he's extremely sensitive to subject matter. There was one tiny part that I would have flinched at, the flood scene, and I didn't love the gang of robbers story line, it's kind of difficult to explain that, lol.

Storks does not get mentioned enough. It's sooo good! @bookwormmama: loved Kubo! I agree it's not really a kids movie. It is intense but my DD liked it.

Moana and Trolls, Zootopia is a favorite at our house too. We have Storks and Secret Life of Pets but neither get a lot of play. Finding Dory is adorable but girls prefer Finding Nemo even though I like FD better!

Sing was a cute movie. My girls loved it! We're going to see Moana this weekend.

@PinkElephant: I read the description, specifically check the violence/scariness rating, but completely ignore the age recommendation.
My favorite recent kids movie is Finding Dory. But we haven't seen anything more recent than that. I'd probably like Sing.
