DS is turning 1 next month and a few people have asked me what to get him and I am a bit clueless...my sister is buying him pajamas and my mom is buying shoes so we have the practical things covered. MIL bought a water table.
Someone suggested duplo legos and a dump truck...and other suggestions? He has a zany zoo, a lot of balls, stacking cups and other small toys. I would like some things he can grow into.

I was packing away the activity table but my 18 mo old still loves it! She also loves to "draw"; I really like having the doodle pro and aqua doodle mat for mess free drawing. She loves her play kitchen/food, and scooting in those ride on cars.

We just got our 15 month old an anywhere chair and she loves it. Books are always a hit. Melissa & Doug cutting fruit. Little people barn. A collapsible tunnel for her room.

My one year old loves to play with the pretend kitchen. My LO got this ride on you for her first birthday and still plays with it now at almost 3. It's gotten a ton of use so it's worth the space is take up. She also loved her toy umbrella stroller at that age (and still does).

Agree with @Foodnerd81: on the little ride and push car. It's a great toy that they don't outgrow too quickly. We also got some beginners Legos that have gotten a ton of use and I always like bath/swim toys. A lot of the gifts we got were too old for her (puzzles, imaginative play toys), but she's definitely grown into them.

My one year old loves her tegu blocks (definitely something to use for years). Just remove the small wheels, as they are too small for a one year old.
Other favorites are buckets and bags she can carry around and fill. Also a play kitchen.

We also love the scuttlebug ride on toy (similar to a y bike). It says 18 months and up and she would need to be walking pretty steadily I think but my almost three year old loves t.

Great timing as we were just thinking about what to get DS2 who is one in less than 2 weeks. DS1 already has just about every toy imaginable but I didn't want to just skip over the gifts. Poor second child.

Bubbles are a huge hit. Maybe a bubble mower or some other type of push toy.

Also, Little People farm, Little People tractor, definitely blocks (Mega Blocks are easy for little hands), Radio Flyer bike, lift the flap books, Little Tykes slide, Little Tykes Adirondack chair (or similar). We have some really great age appropriate Leap Frog toys too that seem like they will fit for several years.

Duplo Lego are a bit hit. LO can't really stick them together yet at 15 months, but LOVEs to take them apart and have me help him build. They are also a toy that will last a long time which I like.
Balls, cars and stacking cups are also big hits.

@Foodnerd81: Yes, this! DD is 17 months old (got it for her first birthday as well) and is totally obsessed with it. (Although we did have to search for an hour for DH's phone the other day, which she'd hidden in the seat. Ha!)
