When I make PB&J, I have to have a thick but equal layer of both - pb on one slice, jam on the other. But it can only be strawberry jam. And while my ratio is 1:1, the key is the thickness.

I omit the jelly and just put a ton of peanut butter! Sometimes I put a tiny bit of margarine... my grandpa taught me that. Brings out the flavour of the peanut butter!

@pui: haha my mom used to put a little butter/margarine in our peanut butter sandwiches too!

2:1
Thick layer of pb, thiiiin layer of jelly. Any flavor will do. Or replace the jelly with a thin layer of fluff. But never mix fluff and jelly together. Blech!

Thin-Medium layer of PB on *both* pieces of bread, with a medium layer of jelly in the middle. Pocket of PB FTW!
ETA: Double PB is awesome, but it also keeps the jelly from being absorbed by the bread. Genius if you ask me!

@Rubies: you are my PBJ soulmate! I was just going to say lots of PB and lots of J... except I'm ok with other types of jam too!

@MsLipGloss: that is genius! Will do that next time.

Thin layer of creamy PB one side and regular layer of jam on other side. I like strawberry jam. I don't like grape.

@locavore_mama: I will take a PB only if I put it on toasted bread. I love how it melts!

I like peanut butter, not a fan of jelly, but I will have jam. When my sister would make us sandwiches and would ask how I wanted it, I would yell PEANUT BUTTER and whisper jelly, so that she'd know the ratio

@bluestriped bee: you can make them like a grilled cheese and grill the PBand J. So good.
I like a thick layer of both. No grape jelly though - yuck!

I just ate a 2 spoonfuls of peanut butter. Thanks.
Usually I spread a thick layer of pb on one slice of bread and an equally thick layer of strawberry preserves/jam on the other.
YUM

@MrsH: i ALWAYS grill my PB&J. amazeballs.
super thick peanut butter (has to be no sugar added, else blech!) with a thin layer of strawberry preserves, then grilled to melty perfection. considering eating that for lunch now!

@MrsH: What?!? Grilled PB&J! Sounds awesome! I guess I know what I'm having... shoot! Don't have any bread in the house!

PB&J sounds soooooo good right now. I like thick equal parts of each on whole wheat bread. I wonder if I can somehow trick my body to process it and not make my glucose levels skyrocket tonight.

75% crunchy pb on both sides and 25% grape jelly in the middle. Sometimes on wheat and sometimes on waffles.

I hate jelly. I eat peanut butter and honey. S good when the honey forms tiny crystals. 2:1 heavy on the peanut butter.

Usually peanut butter and honey, or just peanut butter, but when I have jam (omg when I was pregnant!) it would be 75% PB 25% strawberry jam.
Sometimes, when I'm feeling extra non-diety I have peanut butter with a good smear of Nutella.
DH likes PB-PB sandwiches, the more PB the better. His perfect sandwich is about 3/4" of PB. The bread is just there to keep it together...

100% PB - 0% Jelly. I loathe jelly
OR...
Both slices in crunchy peanut butter drizzled with honey!! SO GOOD!

i rarely eat PBJs but when I do I'd say about 66% pb 34% jam. I don't like when the jam drips out, which it tends to do if you put too much. So I do sort of a thick(ish) layer of pb and a thin layer of jam.

Only strawberry jelly- no grape, gross! I also like a good drizzle of honey on my on but only on an English muffin. Apparently I am picky about my OB sammies

@MsLipGloss: *mind.blown*
I have been trying to keep my jelly from soaking my sandwich bread since I was 6 years old.

@MsLipGloss: Of course... that's the only way to make a PBJ. Nobody wants soggy bread. I like it to still squish out when you squeeze it. So, peanut butter on both sides, jelly in the middle. Preferably homemade blackberry.
