The hubs has a huge project due tomorrow so he's still at work...He actually just called to tell me that he's sleeping at the office tonight. It's been a crazy month!
Last year, this annual project landed right when LO was born and it was a hellish first month.

We are both lying in bed in the dark on our phones while the baby sleeps between feedings... We should really be sleeping... Last night was so bad!! I swear, sleeping 30 mins at a time all night long is pure physical torture.

He is at work, while I came up to visit my parents. I hate it when he works nights--this is his 3rd in a row and he sounded so tired. I felt bad for him. He will go home and sleep for a few hours in the morning and then come home for the weekend.

he is asleep because he has to get up around 5 to go to the hospital...third year is crazy! I am so glad we had LO during second year when he had some control over his schedule...

@Mrs. Jacks: It was perfect because she is an early december baby, right before the holidays. DH had one week of class and then three plus weeks off which was so great for all of us! I appreciate it more as I see friends whose partners only get a few days...

@Maysprout: LO is only 8 months so we have a little time for that, but it is hard to figure out. DH has a friend whose wife is due in October (of 3rd year) and I just think it will be harder for them. Of course you can make it work if you have to!
How is the adjustment to third year going for you? I didn't realize how early the days started...The biggest adjustment for me was basically being solo in the mornings....when DH had class or was studying, he could watch LO while I showered and did a lot of the daycare drop off/pick up. Now that is almost all me. We have gotten into a decent routine but it is a lot sometimes.

@Maysprout: 4th year is a great time My motto used to be "if you are a 4th year and you're not at least a little concerned that you are an alcoholic, then you are doing something wrong!"
All that is to say that there is plenty of free time and easy rotations in 4th year! (especially after sub-I's are over).

@MamaCate: He was finishing up his PhD last year and worked half the time from home. He was flustered finishing up his thesis but at least he was home. So we went from that to his first rotation being surgery - He leaves at 430 am and gets home at 7 pm. I feel like it's obnoxious of the school, people have other responsibilities. He went to a talk today on fatigue that claimed that surgery residents have a much, much higher rate of car accidents than average because of fatigue, it's just very irresponsible and weird that hospitals cause such an unhealthy lifestyle for their employees.
@Mrs. Jacks: I'm trying to get some flexible jobs so we can travel a little for his 4th year rotations. With possibly 2 kids in tow, so that will be interesting
