Our baby is due at the end of June and we plan on taking a weekend trip to the ocean at some point in August. I don't plan on taking LO to the beach itself, but we'd like to get a condo with a pool so we can swim a little. Is a month too early for small amounts of pool time? I'm assuming yes, but it never hurts to ask!

LO's Dr. wanted us to wait until 4 months.

Our ped said 6 months, especially because they can burn easier in the water.

I'd buy a really big hat or a light umbrella so you can get in holding lo. You can't do sunscreen until 6 months and newborn skin is really sensitive, so the chemicals in the water are probably not good. We are going to try sometime this month (about. 4 months) with him totally covered.

Swimming lessons start at 4 months so that's probably when we'll take her to the pool for the first time!

When we had our older daughter we were by our ped told once they have head control, which can vary for each child

i'm guessing since the kids haven't gotten their shots until 2 months, that's way too early for their immune system. my kids are over a year and i still haven't taken them. i finally bought a kiddie pool!

Depending on how chlorinated it is I'd consider it! My parents were wild 70s hot tubbers so im pretty sure I was already in the water by that time!

We brought Sadie to the beach at 2 months, and if was warm enough we would've taken her in the water. I live by the beach, so there's a huge swim culture here. Babies are all in the water (ocean, pool, etc.) right away! I was born in July & in the pool with my mom right away! Our drinking water is chlorinated & she drinks it all day long, so I think she's okay for some pool time!

We have a pool and waited until DS was 3 months. He went in a few times before we closed it for the winter.

We put LO in the pool for the first time at 4.5 months. That's just the first opportunity we had to go so.

We started swim class at 8 weeks, all indoors though.

We went to Hawaii when LO was 4 months old and dipped her legs in the ocean and DH sat with her in the kiddy pool. She started swimming classes at 6 months.
