LO (almost 21 months) has gotten pretty good at the alphabet. She can point out the alphabet with a few exceptions (X, Q, W, N) and repeat back what i recite (with a few exceptions like C, L Q and W).
I haven't been able to find much on this, as a lot of people say learning the alphabet isn't really a milestone. When did your LO say the alphabet or recite it on their own?

DD started at 22 months and has almost all of it at 23 months. (She prefers Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star to the Alphabet - haha)

How do you teach them the alphabet other than the song? Do you have letters out that you show them or books? That's something we haven't done - teach letters. Ours is mostly all verbal teaching so far.

This is something neither of my kids picked up on until way late - like 3.5?
My DS was memorizing books at 2.5 though so I guess he just wasn't interested in the alphabet

@mediagirl: With my DD we are using the alphabet at the end of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
She loves to repeat them after me and can find "h" for her name "D" for daddy and "M" for mommy.

@Freckles: right around 20 months she knew all her letters and could identify them. At 22 months she was singing the alphabet consistently. At 25 months she's a letter pro and can do letter puzzles and tell you their sounds. She's getting most of the lowercase letters now too

@mediagirl: I started with alphabet magnets around 19 months? We would play a game where i would tell her to go bring me "Y" or "Z" and she would come running back with the letter. And then i bought this Hape alphabet puzzle last month that she just LOVED! That definitely helped as well.
@sandy: I found that i had to separate the upper and lowercase alphabets because it was getting to be too confusing. Singing at 22 months is awesome! LO isn't really singing yet and i'm afraid she's going to get DH's tone deafness. haha

@mediagirl: Some friends of mine have a rug from Ikea that has the letters on it, they say it helped their little girl learn the alphabet at 2-2.5.
My LO just turned 2 and doesn't know it. We talk about it sometimes, but he hasn't shown much interest in singing songs (he'd rather listen, we sing all the time). Every letter is "A!" He'll learn it eventually

DD doesn't recite the song, but has known and verbally identified every letter since 18 months.

LO could identify the letters before he turned 2. A few months later he started to sing the ABC song. I was really surprised when he was able to identify because I never really taught him. He has a lot of ABC books and loves watching Super Why.

She could sing the song at 20/21 months, but I don't think she could identify all the letters.
