I've heard that they really need two naps until at least 15 months. For W a few times it seemed like he didn't need both naps but he just needed a bit more time between naps and to start cutting them off - like, I had to start waking him up at 10 and letting him go until 1:30.

@nugget16 I don't remember exactly since it's been a while, but I think his nap definitely got longer when we pushed it to only one (hit and miss). We would just have the one nap start pretty early for a while. No way he could make it to noon, often it would be like 10:45 or 11 until 1:30 or whatever and then a super early bedtime (6-6:30pm). And even that was rough because he was exhausted but wouldn't go to sleep. He probably needed a 2nd nap until he was quite a bit older, but he refused it so we just went with it. We definitely had a lot of cranky times. But even now (just turned 2), he is very sensitive to being overtired and he just loses it when he is tired. Some kids hold it together a little better, I think.
