This question brought to you by my friend - she's 9 months pregnant and just announced on Facebook that she's pregnant. I thought, if you're going to wait that long, why not just wait till the baby is here? 
How far along were you when you announced on social media (if you did)?

With our first, we were about 24 weeks. With this pregnancy we announced right around 14 weeks.

Never. I figured if people aren't close enough to call every now and then or meet up for lunch, they don't need to know.

I think it was 18 weeks with DS, (was waiting until I got a raise at work) and we sent out postcard announcements to close family/friends first; and then 14 weeks with this pregnancy.

Right at 12 weeks. All of our family and close friends knew already, though. My work people suspected because I was already looking pretty pregnant (twin pregnancy problems, I guess!).

After 20 weeks...maybe 23ish? Can't remember exactly. My dad was really eager to tell people so he bugged me about it a few times -- "When can I tell people?!" But we still waited and he survived (I did think it was cute that he was so excited, though!)

For DD it was when she was 6 months old - I suck at FB and one day I posted a picture and said "Oh btw here is my sweet DD"

18 weeks with DS when I found out what we were having and never with any of the others because it was too early and they all ended before 9 weeks.

12 weeks with my daughter and we are still TTC #2 but when it does happen, we won't announce on FB until closer to 20 weeks. I probably won't tell anyone at work until 16 weeks.

I definitely waited until after the anatomy scan with both DD and DS and will probably do the same this time. Everyone that we're close to knows already.

After the 20 week anatomy scan both times. Most people who we were close to already knew (though we do have close friends scattered around the country, so hadn't had a chance to tell some), but I wouldn't do a broad announcement before then--I know someone very well who had announced shortly before the a/s, found a terminal diagnosis at it and then had to re-announce that they lost the pregnancy. Devastating...She's actually written a lot about it since then, so it's not like she wouldn't have told people in the end or wanted it secret, but to have to deal with that so publicly in the actual moment of losing a pregnancy was horrible.

We didn't. I think I already closed my FB page down by the time I became pregnant. After the baby was born DH changed his profile pic and I rejoined with a pic of the baby, but that was it.

20 weeks both times. I wanted to be sure that the anatomy scan for both boys went well before announcing.

With LO#1, we announced at 22-23 weeks, but only because my sister slipped and wished me a happy Mother's Day.
With this pregnancy, we will probably announce sometime around 20 weeks.

With DS1 + DS2 I waited until after our anatomy scan. With our third pregnancy, we were planning to wait until after our anatomy scan but never got to do that. With this pregnancy, I don't think we'll make any sort of announcement until he is here with us safe and sound.

Never! DS is 2 1/2... but my husband posted something when he arrived and I was tagged in photos along the way where I was obviously pregnant and people would ask. My FIL felt the need to announce on my behalf last time. (thanks.) This time, I still haven't - 25 weeks Wednesday. Maybe I'll post something about DS becoming a big brother? I'm not a big FB person.

20-something weeks with my first, when my second was born, and when my third was born but I also had some very preggo pics posted around 7 months with him so I guess that was an unofficial announcement.

We just announced on FB yesterday (10 weeks). We've seen the heartbeat, and told all of our friends at this point. If something were to go wrong, I'd likely share that news, so I didn't feel weird about announcing on FB. I won't ever announce on my business account, and I'll likely wait until 13 weeks to announce on Instagram (because I have more "strangers" there, I don't feel like I need to announce).

Never announced the pregnancy. Announced her birth about a week after she was born.

Never announced. Two pics were posted by other people and you could tell in both pics. Especially one at 34 weeks. My aunt announced name and gender (we were team green) and that it was a difficult delivery like two seconds after she was born and that's how my mother in law found out her name before we could call her. We were kind of annoyed to say the least. Had not planned on saying anything because we don't use Facebook much but then my husband felt like he had to put up a little blurb from us.

I didn't announce until DS was born. I also didn't tell anyone until I was almost 20 weeks (only DH and my OB knew before 20 weeks).

Never announced pregnancy. Just a quick pic after he was born. Neither of us is very active on social media. My husband is very private - oddly he was the one that wanted to announce our son's arrival on FB.

Around 20 weeks. I think I waited til after the anatomy scan. And then I posted a picture of a jar of Prego -- their slogan is, "It's in there." -- with a caption that said we were expecting to launch a new project in a few months. It took awhile for people to get it, which was fine with me.
