I've been back for almost 3 months now . . . I haven't found a sweet spot, but I have found ways to deal. BUT, no matter what, you will find a way to make it work and YOU WILL STILL BE AN AWESOME MAMA!
And yes, caps were totally required for that second bit! (((hugs)))

I have been back to work for 4 months now and I haven't found my sweet spot either. My boss is letting me leave at 12 everyday, but I find myself scrambling to get my work done. On weekends, my parents/or in laws come over and take care of LO for me so I can have some time to focus on work. I just cope, but I'm tired all the time due mainly to awesome sleep deprivation. Somehow, I just make it work.

@MsLipGloss: thank you so much for saying that! It's nice know there are other moms out there feeling the same way.I know what's best in the long run for our whole family that I go back to work, it's just going to be a tough week.

I've been back for 17 months. I don't think a sweet spot exists, if it does I haven't found it..
My days consists or rushing and I don't like it one bit, it's just going to get worse when the newest baby is here..
Rush ds to school, rush dd to baby-sitter, rush to work (I'm habitually a half hour late now) sit and work for 8 hours, rush to Grandma's to pick up ds, rush to baby-sitter to pick up dd, rush home to make dinner, hopefully I didn't need to stop at the store that night. Some days when my Mom is unable to pick up ds from school I have to leave work and pick him up and either bring him with me or take him to her. Thank goodness my boss is so flexible and understanding.

@StbHisMrs: oh my that sounds stressful. I'm really hoping DH and I can share a lot of the pick up/drop off duties so I don't feel rushed all the time.

Some days I have balance and others I'm losing my mind! I'm constantly behind on work and home chores, but they'll keep. They are plenty of times I just say screw it all and we go play. I'll never regret quality time, so I just prioritize when I can.
I absolutely understand the back to work funk, it will get easier with time.

4 months and I agree with the other mamas, no sweet spot! At the end of the day I always feel like I've ran a marathon. I think you just get use to it though!

@prettylizy: every day before I leave, I remind myself that the hardest thing I have to do that day is walk out the door and leave LO. After that, it's all downhill! And I totally get where you're coming from, too. My decision to return to work was because of the long-term benefits. Sometimes I think when you have a choice, even if it is a crappy or difficult choice, the mommy guilt gets amplified.
At the end of every day when I get home, LO kicks and reaches her beautiful chubby little arms out to me. The second I get her it's almost as if I never left. That's my sweet spot!

I haven't found the perfect solution but we have found something we can all live with. My little guy is almost 2 now. We have to give on both parts but ultimately not enough in either for there to be problems. We started cobedding because then I got more sleep at night. I got a different job which allows me to be home more. I am learning to be much more organized in everything. And we ultimately don't use closets (clothes go into the laundry room and stay there).
