And has it affected your decision on what to tell your kids about Santa?
I don't ever remember believing in Santa! I definitely knew by the time of my earliest memories, which would be sometime around Kindergarten. Probably because of two factors: 1) I had an older brother and 2) my parents weren't very good at hiding the truth!
Because of this I just assume that my kids will find out super early no matter what, especially from kids at school, and we treat the Santa issue very casually. I think of Santa as more of a tradition that the kids get one extra present under the tree and take a photo with him, much like Disney characters.
Oh, and just to make it fun...
I really hope any parent that tells their kids Santa isn't real makes sure their kid knows other kids DO believe in Santa and ask them not to spoil it for others.
In our house, the emphasis was on the Christian perspective of Christmas and Santa was generally treated more like what @lawbee11: said, just an embodiment of the spirit of Christmas.
