DD2 is 2 weeks old and I'm itching to rejoin the world but I'm hesitant because of the cold weather and all the sickness going around. When did/ will you take your newborn out?

I think right around 2 weeks is when I started going out and running errands with DD. She slept in her car seat the whole time so I didn't worry too much about germs. It felt great to get out of the house!

The day after we for home from the hospital. My other daughter had a birthday party to go to and I didn't want her to miss it. I just left her in the car seat for most of the time.

We were out with LO as soon as we came home from the hospital. Plan to do the same with LO2. I found strangers to be very considerate...we kept him in his carseat carrier and people would peek from afar, but we didn't have any trouble at all with people trying to touch him. I would go out as soon as you feel comfortable. You can always put a blanket over the seat or babywear and those tend to keep people away as well.

About two weeks? Her neonatologist advised us not to go out much because of her breathing issues and the pertussis outbreak that was going on. So we did keep it minimal for awhile

At about 5 days old my grandfather was hospitalized so we had to visit him. We didn't want to bring him into a hospital of sick people so we took turns staying out with him. But we needed to eat so took him out to eat dinner with us. I was nervous though.

I took her to a restaurant when she was just a few days old. She stayed in the carrier though with an A&A blanket draped over it. I think we went to church when she was between 1-2 weeks old. I had her in my arms and was showing her off, though I was the only one to hold or touch her. In retrospect, it was perhaps a little risky to have her in a crowd like that, since it was December and cold/flu season... but, I kept here close to me and was nursing - which hopefully provided some immunity. I also took her to biweekly breastfeeding support meetings with a ton of other moms and babies from the time she was a week old.

We took A to church at 11 days old because I had an important meeting that afternoon. She slept the whole time.

We had our baby in January. We first went out at 5 days to get her lip tie corrected. At 10 days, we walked to a close restaurant for sushi (yummm), and kept her in a wrap the whole time.
We didn't do anything with her out of a carrier or wrap, or in a big crowd until she was about 8 weeks.

Other than dr visits, we went out for the first time with her when she was 2 weeks old - went out to lunch with my mom & aunt and she slept in her car seat the whole time.

Not until a week old for breakfast with our first, but that's because we had several days of NICU time. With my second we went out right away, he just tagged along- I either wore him or had him in the carseat.

A week old, I think? And then every day after that. I had horrible cabin fever.

We stopped at a restaurant for brunch on our way home from the hospital last time. The next time we went out was about a week and a half later for a target run. It was summer so I was less worried about bugs. This time it will be very different given it will be March, the measles stuff, and having my hands full with three kids. I don't see us going out with the twins as early.

My doctor gave us the green light to take her on walks right away but cautioned us not to take her anywhere crowded and indoors until she is 6 weeks old. So no stores, restaurants or anywhere crowded. 2 more weeks. Cannot wait to be able to take her out and about.

Took her to the dog park the day after we came home from the hospital, and just on with our life after that. I never worried about it. She was healthy, I wore her, it was never an issue. I'd go nuts staying inside my house. I'd only hide out at home if I had an immunocompromised child, or something similar.
