I'm considering taking my DS (8 months) to a library story time that is geared to ages 0-2 but not sure he'd actually enjoy it or have the attention span to make it through a 30 minute program. I'm wondering if it might be one of those things we should just wait to do when he's more of a toddler.
Did any of you take your LOs to baby/lap sit story time? Did they enjoy it?

I started before that, I think. Maybe he was around 6 or 7 months? He loved it. Most babies that age sit on your lap and enjoy it. Now with my toddler, he is a handful and doesn't want to sit still for most of the songs. I still take him every week because he loves it. I think it is great for all ages. I think that is a perfect time to introduce it. I bet you'll both enjoy!

Go for it! We started at like 4 months! The babies love watching the older kids or playing with the toys.

At our library we have Books for Babies which is geared for babies 0-1. I've been taking her since she was about 4 weeks old. Everyone just sits in a circle and the little babes just lie on floor and then in laps or sit up when they are older. We sing songs and rhymes and do tickles, dance and listen to stories. It's 30 mins long and LO has never fussed. She seems to really like it and the moms socialize for 30 minutes afterwards.

We started around 7 months and I remember wishing we'd gone sooner. The one we went to was supposed to be for 0-18 months. The leader knows the attention spam of her audience and breaks things up really well to keep interest! You should go!

Definitely go. I found things like this easier when he wasn't mobile. Now he just wants to crawl away from me.

I started when he was 15 months but that's because that's when I became a SAHM. I would go! I see little babies there all the time.

Awesome! I'm so glad to hear that! As he gets older and more interested in the world, I find that I think I bore him a lot here at home 
so I think this could be something fun to add to our week.
Provided it works with his nap this AM I think we'll go today! And stop for a coffee for mama, too.

We went at like 4 months? It was nice to get out, and there were lots of young babies there!

We went last week at 5 months! At our library they don't actually read books to her age group. They sing songs & do hand clap games & play with noise makers. We had a great time!

We took her for the first time at 4 months... she was indifferent. LOL.

I took her at 7- months for the first time. She observed everything and seemed to enjoy the other babies/toddlers.

Take him! We started going to a 6-24 month program when DD was 9 months. We love it!

I started with my 2nd at 2 months. My first I waited longer, but now that I've seen other people with babies there I don't think it was necessary to wait. In our class they alternate doing things for tiny babies and older toddlers.

We went for the first time last week at 9 months. I don't know if he really paid much attention, but he seemed to like looking around. We'll definitely go back.

16 months and she was all over the place! I wish I'd taken her much younger to get her used to the routine, but there's no baby storytime where we live so we only go when we visit grandma.

He was 4 months the first time we took him. Then we took a long break and just started going regularly at 19.5 months. He loves it! We also do mini storytimes at home, so we're always reading books and singing songs and doing action rhymes.

@coopsmama: we started at probably 6 months? It was easier then - he could sit still Now that he is 15 months, the toddler storytime is very laid back. All sorts of little people running around during the story ha!

My library's youngest story time is for ages 1 and up so we haven't gone yet

We recently went to story time for the first time at 4 months. It lasted about 40 minutes and we only read two books - most of the time was spent singing songs & doing little activities. She LOVED it, even though the woman leading it was totally lame, haha. There were older babies there that could crawl & she was fascinated with them - I think it was giving her ideas!
I think at this age, most activities are just about socialization for mom & baby!
