Just wondering how far in advance you installed the base into your vehicle?

We installed the base a month before our EDD. We received the car seat and base as a gift and I was excited.
DH took it to the local sheriff's office so they could inspect our base and seat. Turns out we didn't have the base tightened enough!

Blah...I want to install mine (I am tired of looking at it sitting there in the nursery), but I am keeping my fingers crossed I'll have a new car this week!

I will hit 35 weeks this week (on Thursday), and I plan to install the base this weekend.

In beginning of the 3rd trimester we installed both bases into our cars.

I'm 30 weeks, and I'm thinking within the next two weeks and than take it to our pediatrician's office to have it checked in both vehicles (they do it there for free!) Which reminds me we need to get another base for DH's truck!

We never did! The base is still in our house and we just buckle in the seat whenever we go.

37 weeks. It was really easy to install so we never felt rushed to do it. We figured worst case scenario if I went into labor early, DH could just install it while I was in recovery.

Way too late at 38 weeks. Every weekend local firefighters install them at our hospital. Exactly a week after we got it installed, my water broke and our son was born.
We tried to install it, but it was way too loose despite all of the instructions. It was good peace of mind to have someone check it and fix it for us!
It was pretty funny driving around with an empty car seat for that final week!

@Mrsdaredevil: Nope. It just sits in our living room waiting for us to maybe one day install it in a bigger car.

Like @cvbee, it was DH's job so it got done the day we left the hospital with DS.....so annoying!

The carseat safety class with professional installation that is put on by the hospital where I'll be giving birth is only offered when I'll be 31 weeks. There was supposed to be another when I would have been 35 weeks that we were signed up for but they cancelled it.
So, we'll be driving around for a while with a base in each of our cars but doing it early with the help of a pro sounded better than doing it later without the help.

My shower is at my 34 w mark so if I get the seat then i'll install it that week. DH doesn't want the extra base in his car. He said if/when he needs it, he'll grab it from the shelf in the garage and install it. But, he doesn't want it hanging out back there when in reality he won't be taking baby many places without me...and when we go out together we ALWAYS take my car (it's bigger).
I have to clean out my car entirely including vacuuming and wiping down the leather first though. It's not dirty but I never have anyone back there and i'm sure it needs sanitizing from dust, grocery bags and what not.
