I'm trying to decide when I should install my car seat. I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and baby is scheduled to be here in 6 weeks...if he doesn't come sooner. With twice a week NSTs, it's not impossible to think that I may not make it to that date.
When did you put your seat in your car?

About a month before I was due, I think. We had the local police station install it (and teach us how to install it, too!), but they only offered this service on predetermined dates.
I think our option was July or September, and I was due in October!

We will install the base maybe two weeks before I'm due. If she comes before it's really easy to do and the hospital has car seat experts that come to help if we need them too.

We did a practice run in January, so probably around Week 34-35 but I don't remember exactly. We have an infant car seat with a base. The base is still in the car, but I plan to remove it for my ride to the hospital. It can go into trunk and be re-installed. This is because I plan to ride in the back of the car without a seat belt when I'm in labor so that I can more around more freely and find the best position for me. The car seat base will make that more difficult. My husband can re-install it before we drive home.

DH went home and installed it when he went home to sleep while I was in recovery. However, both of us inspect car seat installations as part of our jobs, so we were confident we could leave it to the last minute. He was planning to to it "this weekend" and I went into labour at 38 weeks on Friday night.

I was thinking 35 weeks, so these answers make me feel not so crazy. I don't have a base, though...it's a convertible seat.
I have been installing car seats in my car for years, thanks to DS, so I definitely want to do it myself, while showing DH and not leave it up to him at the last minute.

About 35 weeks. My doc suggested having the car seat in and my hospital bag packed by 35 weeks - just in case!

I made DH go do it before we left for the hospital when my water broke at 37.5 weeks (I had been bugging him to do it for a while!)

We did it at 36 weeks for LO. Probably will wait a bit longer for this one... Maybe even once we're at the hospital.

I might take it to the fire house to get it looked at soon, but will have to take it out after that point because I have 2 carseats in my car already thanks to my nanny job. We bought a Keyfit and I've never installed one before so I want to make sure I'm doing it correctly.
I'll be 36 weeks on Monday and the carseat is still in the box

A couple days before my induction at 41+5. Yeah. I drove it to the nearby hospital and let them do it

DH insisted on putting it in as soon as we got it (at my shower at 35 weeks). I felt stupid driving around with a car seat and no baby... and then I delivered at 36 weeks

I just moved DS's convertible to sit FF and behind the drivers seat today so that we can install the base for the infant seat since it only fits on the passenger side. I want to clean the truck before we install it though - there was more than a few goldfish back there :o I'm due March 1st but am not too worried, worst case scenario DH does it at the hospital.

A couple weeks ago at 33 weeks since I like the fire department to do it and had to make an appointment.
Last pregnancy I did it at 38 weeks, he came exactly a week later, which was too close for comfort!

I'm 38 weeks and haven't yet...way easier with number two now that I can do it quickly! Plus two car seats in the back seat so I'm saving room!
