I can't figure out how close she is to actually getting herself, but I'm thinking it's not too far away, eeeeep!
What age did you LO first climb out of their crib and what does one do when this becomes normal?

My two have done it at different times. DD did it for the first time when she was a little over one, but we just put the mattress down. Then, when she was over two, she did it when she wasn't mad and we decided to transition her to the "big girl bed." She wasn't a big climber.
DS has done it once and we just put the mattress down, he also did it for the first time a little around 18 months. He hasn't figured it out again and doesn't seem too interested. I'm hoping that he doesn't figure it out any time soon! He is almost 22 months old.

I first saw DD climb out at 18mo. That night we converted her crib to a toddler bed. We figured, why prolong the inevitable?

My first lo was just over one when she learned to escape, by 18 months it was so regular that I gave in and transitioned to the toddler bed. My second lo is almost 18 months and still hasn't figured it out!

@lemondrop: Same..but she uses the crib as her ballet barre.

@autumnlove: really we are just waiting for the inevitable I'm in no rush, but kind of torn whether I want him to just get it over with and make the decision for me or not before #2 comes in March. We are not buying a second crib since he's so close at this point.
#2 will be in the pack & play for the first few weeks anyway, and I expect C to regress in pretty much everything in those early days. At this point we are taking baby steps in introducing the big boy bed and like everything else- winging it!

DS never even tried. We transitioned him to a twin at about 33 months.

She tried when we first transitioned her in at around 12 months. But since then, she's had no interest, thank goodness!

My DS was 18 months and everyone told me to put him in a real bed - NO WAY!! I figured if he continued to do it I would but I didn't really want an 18 month old in a big bed. So, it ended up being a fluke he didn't climb out again until he was 2 weeks shy of 3 and then he did it over and over and over - so then we put him in the bed.
DD is 2yrs 9 months and has never attempted it - we will move her at 3 to a big bed

DD did it last night at 17 months and boy is she quick! I actually put her in a sleep sack for the first time in awhile and then she wasn't able to. We are debating on whether to stick with the sleep sack or transition her to a big girl bed.
