My LO is a little over 9 months old, and of course she's much too young to be able to handle anything but cloth and board books. But I'm wondering just how long it will be until I can read her children's books with regular paper. There are tons of books I love that aren't available in board book format.
When did you start reading regular books (closely supervised so they don't get torn in the beginning) to your LO?

We do regular books now sometimes but she tears the pages when turning them

He just started being able to turn the pegs nicely and have the attention span to listen to a real story in the last few weeks. He's 19 months.

We always did a combo of boh. If she would attempt to get too rough with the pages I would tell her to give the book "nice" & we would pet the page instead. If she did it multiple times she obviously wasn't in to listening to the story so we just did something else.

I've done regular books since day 1. Board and cloth books get boring real quick! If she's being super rough with the pages, I just tell her we're all done.

We use both, but despite our best efforts some of the paper ones have been ripped (he get too excited when turning the pages).

We started buying them for her around the two year mark, and she has only damaged one. She probably could have gotten some sooner.
I ran the book air at my school last week, and had to talk a coworker out of buying board books for her 4 year old sister, she was grateful I told her she was more than ready for big kid books.

We read her regular books until she was about 10 months & page ripping became a big thing. Now we are on 100% board / cloth books until she is not as obsessed with tearing paper.
