My husband and I bought 3 pieces of nursery furniture this week. we may end up using a section of our room as the nusery for the 1st year since we live in a 1-bedroom apartment.
Anyway I was wondering if its too early to set up the crib and dresser since I am due in April 2012. But I dont want to just leave it in the box because then I wont realize if something is wrong with it until its too late.
How soon did you set up your nursery furniture.

Ours was set up when the furniture was delivered because it was complimentary to have it setup so it was about 8 weeks before my EDD.

We got our crib in Friday and are going to set it up this week and I'm due in March.
We weren't anticipating receiving it this early though. We thought it was going to take longer to deliver.

we set ours up EARLY. We got it used for a really good price, and didn't have anywhere to store it, so I was about 8 or 9 weeks and it was all put together in the nursery.

I am due the beginning of March, and will be setting up hopefully in January. The reason we haven't done it yet is money

This is a sore spot for me as my in laws hired a decorator to do everything and pick everything, even the colors and then let me see the nursery right before I went in for my c section and it wasn't what I would have picked.
They are generous but I'd rather they keep their money and allow me to just set my own childrens rooms up as I'd like.

For my daughter I didn't set her stuff up until about a month before she was born because we moved. This time, hopefully we will have moved into our house a couple months or so before baby is born so we can get things ready sooner!

We are actually in the process of looking for a new house. I may not have a nursery set up until after the baby is here

I couldn't decide on a nursery theme so I waited and waited and waited. I prolonged it for so long that we ended up no decorating it all, which ended up being a blessing in disguise because we we realized that we didn't really need to decorate the nursery. They grow up so fast that we skipped the nursery phase and decorated his toddler room. We saved a lot of money in the process.

@ecogirl: wow! Like you said very generous but you'd think they'd ask your opinion first. Did you know this was happening and you didn't say anything?
We moved when I was about 8 months preggo, but the nursery was one of the first rooms done. Except the crib. We waited until after she was here to set that up because my hubby is superstitious, and she was in a bassinet at first anyway.

@artbee I knew it was happening but honestly they don't care for me much (they act fine towards me but cold) since I didn't come from the upper crust
So they said it was their gift to us and I felt that it would be rude of me to say no and it would be detrimental to our relationship to put up a fuss. Sigh. Not only did they not ask my opinion but they pretty much picked things they knew I wouldn't like, haha -
We probably won't start buying things let alone setting things up until a month before the baby. We just don't have the space in our tiny place.

We set up our crib right away---we bought it really early because it was on sale and hubs set it up while I was at work one day. I am a little sad he did it on his own, but it was a nice gesture. We haven't done much else for the nursery though since we are getting it recarpeted soon. Hopefully, we'll get things finished in January,

We painted our nursery and set up the crib and dresser in September and we are due in December. Our furniture is not protected by dust right no2

Cameron is due in February and the nursery still needs another coat of paint or two to be finished. Then we'll probably let it sit for a week or so to cure, and I'll start around 32-33 weeks setting it up.

I am due at the beginning of May, and we will probably get the nursery started in January, and get the furniture sometime in January/February.

I was too excited to wait. I think we were gradually setting up furnitur/decoratingfrom 3 months on.

I'm due at the end of March. We just ordered her crib and started painting the nursery last week. We will probably do alot more setting up after the holidays, like Jan-Feb.

I'm due in April as well, and I'm planning to set up the furniture as soon as we are done remodeling our nursery. So hopefully by the beginning of the year. I want to give our animals a chance to explore the new surroundings, make sure everything is ok with the crib, and help set it up before I get too big.
