I like browsing maternity clothes and am so tempted to buy some things on sale. I think it's too soon though. I'll probably wait to the end of the first trimester if I can.

I put it off as long as possible. I think I started buying only after I couldn't fit into my regular clothes.

Last time I bought some around 12weeks and started wearing them around 16 weeks.

Really early. I had winter babies and found out I was pregnant at the tail end of winter clearance sales. I stocked up on long sleeve shirts and sweaters for like 80% off.

Really early, like 9 weeks? I was just so bloated and already uncomfortable...

I didn't buy any until after the first tri because I didn't want to jinx anything. I might have gotten a Bella band sooner to help make my regular pants work sooner than that though.
@Leialou: P.S. Congrats!! So excited for you!

I went to Old navy yesterday because I had a coupon, but I didn't buy any clothes for myself. Figured I would wait. DH got some t-shirts out of it.
My sister offered to send me some of her clothes since she's due at the end of this month.

By the time I found out it was twins (6 w 6 d) I was having a hard time buttoning my pants. I gained about 8 lbs during my IVF cycle though. I was in mat pants full time around 9 weeks.

I bought them at about 8-9w. I had already heard the heartbeat and felt more confident, plus they were on sale. I was going to need to buy them eventually anyway

I think I was 15-16 weeks and it felt very good by that time! I think I needed pretty much all maternity by 20-21 weeks.

I was too superstitious to buy until around the end of the first tri. I ended up getting larger regular pants (due do an Amazon mistake) not long after I found out.

I did right away when I found good deals at Gap. I was superstitious and did not wash anything except jeans and leggings till about 18 weeks. I think it's fine, just leave tags on till you need them. That said I did overbuy a touch and have a few items I have not worn yet with a month to go.

I needed maternity pants at 8 weeks. I could've worn dresses and skirts but whatever, I wasn't comfortable. Not like my work dress pants have any give!!

Like 5 weeks the first time? But I like to look for them at goodwill, since they're so cheap. If you find something there, you buy it. I also started stocking up on slightly bigger or stretchier non-maternity tops that would work before I was big enough for real ones. I wear fitted clothes and didn't want to stretch out everything.

Around 20 weeks for my first. I wore a lot of dresses!

With my first, I didn't buy my first maternity clothes until 27 weeks! I just wore my jeans with a bella band and already had a lot of flowy and loose-fitting tops.
With my second, I started buying them right away! Maternity clothes are so much more flattering on your bump than non-maternity clothes!

10 weeks... And needed a bella band at 8 weeks! I'm pretty petite, and I popped so quickly!

I was in full time maternity clothes by 12 weeks. This time I am about to be 13 weeks and am going this weekend to stock up on more mat clothes. With my nausea I cannot have anything remotely tight on my stomach. Yesterday I was wearing regular black tights and by noon I had to cut the waistband because I was literally getting a stomach ache from them, haha. Guess I need maternity tights too and last time I never bought any at all!

At 10 weeks, I bought a shirt and a dress at a consignment shop out of town but I didn't start wearing them for a few weeks. I tried to wear my regular clothes for as long as possible. I ended up renting a couple dresses from Mine for Nine which was great.

I bought some a few weeks ago (I'm 13 weeks now), because my work scheduled fluctuates a lot and I had spare time to shop then and might not have the time when I need them. I'm still completely comfortable in my regular clothes though, so I haven't worn them yet.

About 10 weeks I think? I got a gift card for a mat. store and I had to use it when I was still in the states. Plus I was SO bloated!

Around 12 weeks. I didn't need anything before that, honestly and I was too superstitious to buy or wear anything maternity before that.

with the first pregnancy, i started buying/wearing around 18 weeks. this time, 10-11 weeks.

I needed work pants at 8 weeks. I hated the belly band. They were 100% more comfy.

Probably around 9-10 weeks, after I saw the heartbeat and felt more confident.

I have a very short torso, so I popped early and by 8 weeks my pants were not fitting. I didn't buy a ton in the first trimester, but some basics. I bought the bulk around 16 weeks, when my MIL took me shopping.

I needed work pants/jeans around 8-10 weeks. I was just so uncomfortable. Next time I will just go right for them, because it was heavenly once I did!
honeydew / 7463 posts
I think around 12 weeks. But I probably didn't actually need to start wearing them till 16 weeks or so.
I'm just a shopping addict though, it was impossible for me to not buy clothes and I couldn't buy regular ones

8 weeks? I had to buy work pants early. I didn't buy much the first time around. Got by with with wearing nonmaternity in larger sizes.
This time, I bought some from HB classifieds and Gap. I think I'm mostly done until spring/summertime when I'll probably pick up a few more dresses.

Around 20 weeks for LO 1. I wore a lot of dresses before that.

Just bought a few things at 12w. I'm 13w now and I'm SO uncomfortable in my work pants (although I think it's 90% bloat, 10% baby). So this weekend is Mission Maternity Work Pants!

With my first pregnancy, I put it off as long as possible. I think I was around 16 weeks?
This time, I started wearing my old maternity clothes around 9-10 weeks (the bloat, my goodness!) and have been buying more slowly since (preg in a different season)
