LO is 8 months. I put shoes on him if we are spending any time outside, but that's pretty much it. He's not walking yet, but is pulling himself up.
When did you start putting shoes on your LO? Should I?

We're in Florida so weather was never an issue for us. I didn't put shoes on my LO until she was starting to walk. I know I hate shoes so I didn't want to make her wear them until she needed them.

When she started crawling we started putting shoes on her when we went out. She only wears socks around the house.
If it wasnt so cold I still probably wouldnt put shoes on her (just socks) when we went out. But I feel like shoes are warm so she wears them (and rips them off).

I sent LO to daycare in shoes today! She likes yanking off her socks and her feet get so cold!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: That's exactly it! He rips them off or rubs his feet/heels together until they come off. I feel like if I send him to daycare with shoes, he'll come home with one shoe.

I didn't start putting shoes on my LO until very recently - mostly because it was nearly impossible to find shoes that fit his fat little feet. He's nearly a year old. At Christmas, his aunt gave us a Stride Rite giftcard so that we could find the right stage shoes for him and find them in a size that would fit over the pudgy parts. If I remember correctly, he ended up being a 5.5 wide.
Up until then, I would either attempt to stuff his feet into shoes that weren't comfortable but weather dictated more than just his usual socks.

I know every baby is different, but mine would not wear shoes when I started putting them on him a little bit before he turned 1 yr old. I think I started having him wear shoes too late so he was not used to them. I would start early with shoes so that they are used to them and won't try to take them off all the time ! ;p
btw, now he will wear them with no problem, but it took a while to get to that point !

We started putting shoes on LO last week. He pull off his socks at daycare and the only way to keep his feet warm are to put shoes over the socks. He can't pull his shoes off. I have found the Pediped is the best brand at staying on his foot.

@winniebee: yes! W does he same thing. We put her in the car with shoes on, and while we are driving she rubs her heels together and by the time we are at our destination the shoes are off!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Same here! He gets those buggers off so fast!
Pedi actually told me bare feet or socks is best for LO to walk in, since wearing shoes can actually inhibit them. So he only wears shoes on special dressy occasions.

I don't think I'll put shoes on her until she's really walking. Baby shoes...gah...yet another expense I don't want to have!!!

When he started crawling and pulling himself up on furniture/walking along it. It coincided with winter, and he needed something warm anyway.

Our LOs are the same age and we only put shoes on her when we leave the house too.
