I started wearing the bellaband at 8 weeks, no lie.
At 10 weeks, friends and close fam could tell.
At Thanksgiving (13/14 weeks) we announced and our extended family guessed.
At 16 weeks, a few clients asked my boss if I was pregnant. Around that time is when ppl started giving up seats on train for me. But I'm 5'2, had no torso, and had a 6 pack before pregnant, so it was a little more obvious.
Here are pics of 5 wks, 12 wks, 20 weeks (or thereabouts). And I only had a 5 lb 5 oz baby.

@lindsayinny You are my hero... we are waiting until the first week of October tell my family in person (it will be week 8) and it has already been SOOOO hard not to say anything!!!

@LindsayInNY: I shut down my wall around the time we started telling people (we told immediate family right away) so from like 12-14 weeks : )

I had to tell work around 17 weeks because I was running out of clothes that were bump hiding!
Congrats!

@Ree723: Same. I had a tiny bump at 24.5 weeks, but didn't get my *pop* until 28 weeks. I never got a huge belly. My OB credited my belly size to pre-pg fitness and having a long(ish) torso.

Congrats! I was around 15-16 weeks when you could see a bump if you really looked for it. As for FB - I deactivated my wall so that I was the only one that could write anything publicly until I decided I was comfortable being "FB official."

I felt like I was showing at 14 weeks but it wasn't really obvious until about 19 weeks.
eggplant / 11287 posts
The first one is me at 13/14 weeks with my first pregnancy. I think I started to look obviously pregnant around this time. People started guessing around 12 weeks.
With my second pregnancy, I showed later for some reason. I didn't look very pregnant until around 18 weeks (I remember in this pic I was sticking it out, trying to look a bit more pregnant). I announced at 15 weeks and no one had guessed yet.
I guess it totally depends on the way you carry naturally, the baby's position, and your body type!
clementine / 984 posts
@LindsayInNY: I showed at 6 weeks, but I was pretty thin and have a short torso and a swimsuit hides nothing, so our lake friends guessed right away (the sudden boobs also really gave me away). I was in maternity pants by week 8. Strangers commented at around 10 weeks.
As for FB, there is a setting where you can approve all tags, but the best is that folks can still post to you wall but only they/you can see it. So your posts show up, they see what they post, but they don't see Aunt Maude spilling the beans! We put that on until we we ready to announce on FB.
Congrats!!! And good luck keeping your secret until you're ready to share

Congrats! So much depends on what you wear - my colleagues who were moms started to notice around 17 wks because I was wearing empire waist wrap dresses. In jeans and a tshirt it just looked like I had slacked off on the Pilates (which I guess was a giveaway to friends bc I'm a total gym rat).
If you'd like to keep it quiet at the wedding, you may still be able to rock a bikini, you never know! I went on a beach vacation at 12 weeks and our friends' friends who joined us had no clue I was pregnant. I was walking around sticking out my belly thinking I had this big bump but to look back on photos now...you'd never know!
I'm hoping to pop a little earlier this time (is that crazy?) - I'm also due to go home around Thankagiving and think it'd be kind of fun to show up at the airport with a visible bump not having told anyone!

@LindsayInNY: So glad to be reading this! Congrats!!!
With my first I looked pregnant around 24 weeks, which is when I finally bought maternity jeans as I had been able to squeeze into my regular ones until then. That said, I was probably in the beer gut stage for about a month and no none was really sure if I was getting fat or pregnant.
With my 2nd, I definitely had a bump by 18 weeks.
As for the bikini, depending on how comfortable you are exposing your belly, you may have no problems. I swam until 3 weeks before I gave birth and wore a bikini every time since I just couldn't embrace a maternity one-piece.

@Jennimac: Thanks!! I keep asking DH if my boobs look bigger yet He told me I'll know when they do because he'll say something, LOL!
@deerylou: Thank you!! I'm 5'3"ish so it sounds like I could go either way (show early or late)...
@Espion: Haha, poor grandma!! That makes me feel better if I end up having to tell work first... I'll just have to wait and see, I guess.
@jhd: Luckily DH isn't on FB. I figure I'll make it so I have to approve wall posts. But what if someone tags you in a photo or status? That worries me.
@tarabonno: Out of town friends want to meet this weekend for drinks and DH is already "I just wish we could tell people already so we don't have to make excuses." Umm, yeah, way too early for that!

@LindsayInNY: Ah! I missed your BFP announcement!! Yay! Congratulations!! Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months
Also - for me, my nipples became darker/larger before boobs grew in size (sigh...I used to like my nipples...not anymore). Small bump at 15 weeeks, noticeable around 18 or so.

I was about 24 weeks with #1. I also never looked really pregnant. With #2 I feel like I started showing before 12 weeks.

@LindsayInNY: I dug a little for you to find what we did. Account settings > timeline and tagging > and in there you can edit "who can see what others post on your timeline" (only me) and also having to approve tags and editing who can see things you're tagged in.
My birthday was 3 weeks before we wanted to announce, and I knew that having no wall for wishes would throw up flags to my friends, so this was the perfect smoke screen, lol.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
ThE poll didn't go out far enough for me. I'd say that I barely started to show at 24 weeks and I didn't pop until 28, which was surprising because I was pretty slim... But I guess those abs held until they couldn't anymore. They've never been the same since, though!
bananas / 9229 posts
@indi: Oooh, that's helpful!!! Thank you!! My birthday is early November so I'll leave everything as is until basically between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@Jennimac: yes, my boobs gave me away too! i didn't start actually showing until around 23 weeks, but my boobs grew 2 cup sizes by 14 weeks! so everyone who knew me suspected something was up (a boob job or pregnancy, lol)
I think you'll have a much easier time with fall clothes, and i think a lot depends on your ab muscles and the length of your torso. i wouldn't really hesitate to tell work before your parents in your situation - i'd tell work as soon as you start to feel like they might suspect something (you can play it by ear). As for keeping it off FB, i was really worried about it and changed my settings so i have to approve posts, but i haven't had any issue. i think people realized i haven't said anything and are smart enough not to be the first!

Early...I started feeling super bloated during the TWW, and my belly felt hard in spots by 6 weeks, I'd say. I had someone ask me at 8 if I was pregnant without any knowledge, and I bought maternity pants last weekend...best. idea. ever.
I used to be bigger, so I think people who knew me then would just think I was a bit bigger again. But apparently, to total strangers and people I know well, it's pretty obvious! We live away from family, though, so my overly-curious aunts have not had a chance to ask any questions!
bananas / 9229 posts
@Pirouette: Holy cow! Really?! I'm all for some bigger boobs but that might be a tough one to hide. I don't know if I'm ready to buy new bras yet, LOL! How soon did they start growing? I really think fall clothes will help - cardigans, sweaters, scarves, etc. I have okay ab muscles (pilates, working out, etc.) but there's definitely a layer of "insulation" over them I work in a smaller office but directly with my boss and another attorney (both moms of 2). I think if it were to become noticeable, the other attorney would semi-discretely mention it to me. We work out together too so I'm going to have to adjust my work out clothes at some point.

@LovelyPlum: Aww, first maternity pants?! Yay!! (It's the little things, right?!) I guess I just have to wait and see. Easy for my Type A self... Hah!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
looked preggo to myself at 14/15 weeks, looked preggo to friends around 18/19 weeks, looked preggo to strangers 22 weeks?
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@LindsayInNY: Yup! it was insane, and even still, now that i'm showing, people still notice the boobs first, haha! I went from 32B to C by about 8 weeks, but i had some old bras that were C cup so i avoided buying new ones. By 14 weeks, the C's didn't cover me so i went to 32D, which are still fitting at 25 weeks. (i'm scared to see what they are post partum!)
if you work out with the other attorney, i feel like you might end up telling her earlier, because you might be more tired, or sick, or just generally not working out with the same intensity, but that doesn't mean you have to immediately tell your boss! I didn't tell work until 16 weeks, but some of the women were starting to catch on by then (the men were clueless). keep in mind though that for me this was summer, and i have always worn pretty fitted shirts at work, so it was pretty obvious.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
I think I'm showing at just about 8.5 weeks but no one else does, haha! I'm sure it's just bloat at this point, but my tummy feels like it's harder and puffier now, but that might just be that it's harder to suck in at this point. I'm not on maternity pants yet, but as soon as I got my bfp my pants were so uncomfortable that I stopped being able to wear them (potentially tmi: I was at a conference at ~5 weeks and tried to wear a pair of dress slacks and promptly vomited because of the pressure on my belly). so I bought jeans 2 sizes larger than my normal size and I'm hoping I can get by on those for a little while. my boobs haven't grown out of my bras quite yet, but they are starting to push it
pomegranate / 3863 posts
@LindsayInNY: Congrats!!
I'm very short so I started showing early....probably around 12 weeks to me and maybe 14 or 15 weeks to other people.
bananas / 9229 posts
@Pirouette: Oh wow! I'm a 32-24B now but usually wear push up bras. I think if I lost the push up part, it might help things (if needed). Problem with my coworker is that she's also friends with my boss. I trust her but I'm still overly cautious. We do CrossFit together and I'm going to have to tell the coach sooner rather than later and pray he doesn't slip and mention it. She might question why I'm always having things modified... Maybe I'll cut back on the lunchtime workouts and go after work so she's not there? I also work out in tank tops so hopefully she doesn't notice when I switch to t-shirts...
eggplant / 11408 posts
@nana87: this sounds like me! I can't stand anything on my belly, and my normal bra doesn't cut it anymore. I did have an old one that was a band size larger, but the cups there are starting to push it, too.
@LindsayInNY: yep, wore the first pair on Monday! I was super overwhelmed when shopping for them, but as soon as I put them on, I thought, "what have I been waiting for?!" It's pretty obvious now, though, so if word gets out, I'm just going to have to be OK with it, I guess.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
not until like, 20+ weeks! i had a small bump around 17, but nothing anyone would have ever noticed.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@LindsayInNY: one more thing...I had to tell my (summer) work almost immediately, because I was sent to the ER and had to leave. Even if I hadn't, though, I was so sick that I needed them to know. I told school pretty soon afterwards, too...I valued the flexibility and understanding more than the privacy.
grapefruit / 4800 posts
Oh yeah I forgot about the boobs. I didn't have that with my 2nd. At almost 33 weeks they're just growing now, with my 1st though it was immediate. I went from an A/B cup to a C/D cup by 12 weeks, it was crazy, and people noticed and commented. It was just too dramatic of a change - I had gone from a hard runners body to a very curvy figure in a couple months.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@LindsayInNY: it's fall, i think it's totally acceptable to switch to t-shirts now i say play it by ear with her - you may not feel up to doing cross fit all the time at lunch, so you may want to change up your routine...or you may feel great and continue throughout. obviously only tell her if you think you can trust her though - my secretary overheard something that clued her in that i was pregnant and told my boss (without me knowing) and it made for a very awkward situation!
bananas / 9229 posts
@Pirouette: Whaaat?! Why would your secretary do such a thing?! People are so dumb sometimes. I don't like working out in t-shirts because I sweat so much and get hot. I doubt she'd ask but if she does, I'll blame it on the weather getting colder
@MrsH: Thanks!! Just found out over the weekend
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@LindsayInNY: I was PISSED! (still am!) I just wish she would have said something to me first so i could have told my boss then and not have him know for a week without me knowing!

I didn't get a whole lot of bloat, so the bulge became noticeable to those who knew me around 14-15 weeks. Around 19-20 weeks strangers could tell I was pregnant, depending on what I was wearing.
I'm 5'5" and my torso is a little short, plus this was all going on in the summer. You could probably get away with it a little longer with a fall wardrobe. I successfully camouflaged/distracted at work by accessorizing with a scarf through most of the spring.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@LindsayInNY: i still have no idea, but i'm guessing she overheard me talking to my parents - my mom was constantly calling and asking me questions after my appointments and a few times she walked by and i thought she might be listening. I don't know for sure because i was so annoyed with her that i haven't spoken to her since aside from giving her work!
grape / 85 posts
At my 20 week anatomy scan, my stomach was still basically flat and no one would have known I was pregnant. I started to show maybe 3-4 weeks later. People were actually rude about being so small and many questioned if I was actually pregnant.
