How far along were you when you started showing with #1? I know everyone varies, just curious!
I tried to group weeks just so it wouldn't be the world's longest poll (Do/should I break it down better or further?)

I had a small bump at 17 weeks but it wasn't an obvious pregnant belly until 20-21 weeks.

Hmmmm... I don't remember. Looking back at my bump pics, 17wks but it was more obvious around 23wks.

Um... Like 20 weeks. Thats when I looked pregnant and not just fat.

By 18-20 weeks, I really started to look pregnant. I pretty much knew there was no hiding it when one of the lawyers asked my boss if I was pregnant.

We want to tell both families in person. Problem is, we won't see my parents until Thanksgiving and DH's parents until Christmas. I'm hoping I can wait that long. I'm worried about having to reveal at work before then and also keeping it off FB... (Clearly I'm putting my cart before the horse right now...)

Strangers started asking when I was due at fifteen weeks. I have a very short torso and showed early.
eggplant / 11824 posts
Early, but I have a very short torso which helps. By 12 weeks people were commenting on a regular basis and asking due date. By 8-10 weeks I couldn't wear my normal pants, even with a bella band - had to get maternity pants.

To strangers and/colleagues = 20weeks
To family = 14w
By thanksgiving you'll only be like 13-14w? No one at work will notice before then.
By the way, even at 20w, I could've hidden it with the right clothing if I wanted to.
Worst case scenario, you could deactivate FB from thanksgiving-Xmas

Around 21/22 weeks... No comments from strangers until about 27/28 weeks
bananas / 9229 posts
@TurtleDoves: Phew! Thanksgiving will involve a wedding and bathing suit so there's no hiding it at that point! Thankfully with fall approaching, I can layer clothes more, wear scarves, etc. I work with three moms of two so I worry they may be a bit attentive... I think I'm going to deactivate FB or something - maybe my wall, require tags be approved, etc.? I would hate for a family member to be dumb...

I felt like I started showing around 16/17 weeks, but it wasn't until this week (I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow) that people have started to comment on it. Still no stranger comments. So, I'd say I REALLY started to show just now at 20 weeks!

@LindsayInNY: yeah be careful! I liked a baby related Fb page and didn't realize it was public! My mom called to let me know and I cracked down on my FB settings until we were ready to make a public announcement!
I was super bloated around 9-10 weeks and needed stretchy pants, but didn't start showing until I was closer to 18 weeks.

@LindsayInNY: wait, you're pregnant? Congrats!!!
I was bloated really early on and my boobs grew by like ten weeks. But i didn't have a bump until around 16, obvious closer to 20.

Up until 25 weeks, I didn't look pregnant and I hid it really well (if I wore a tight shirt though, I got comments like, "due any day now?")

Around 16/17 weeks I think it started popping out and looking like a pregnant belly and not just flub.

@lioneyes: @Foodnerd81: Just found out on Sunday so still super new/recent!!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Ugh, stupid FB! I hate liking things for that reason. Definitely won't be doing any of that! I'm fearful someone will tag me in a post or something.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@LindsayInNY: I wa only worried about my dad saying or doing something dumb on fb so I specifically told him not to say anything until I did. He seemed offended but kept quiet.
bananas / 9229 posts
@Foodnerd81: If it were just my immediate family, I think I'd be less worried, but it's a matter of keeping it from extended family at the wedding (still small but what if someone tagged a photo or something stupid?). Plus if I have to reveal at work or something? I'm sure I'm totally making a big deal out of nothing right now...

I think it depends on your definition. I was bloated and showing to me and my husband around 11 weeks but not to others closer to 16

I could see a belly starting around 12 weeks, but it wasn't until about 15 weeks that I think anyone else would have thought I looked a bit thick around the middle. And I don't think a person just looking at me would have thought "pregnant!" until around 18 weeks. I'm pretty short, though, so there's really nowhere for the baby to go but out!
bananas / 9229 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I was trying to figure out how to define it... I'm assuming DH and I will be able to tell sooner. I guess showing enough that it takes some effort to hide? I don't want to get to the point where my boss and coworkers start wondering...

@LindsayInNY: DH noticed about 10 wks. Family around 15-16 weeks. Strangers around 20-21 weeks.
The first thing everyone noticed were my boobs. My tummy wasn't too big a deal because my boobs gave it away.
Congrats!!!
pomegranate / 3003 posts
I'm short and petite, and swear I could see a noticeable bump by week 12. But, I probably just looked like I had a big burrito for lunch.
I think it was pretty obvious to the general public by week 20.

I popped a bit at 16 weeks, and looked undeniably pregnant at 21 weeks. I started wearing maternity pants around 9 weeks because I was so bloated.

Around 11 weeks I could tell the top of my tummy was starting to bump out. But to anyone else except DH, maybe 17 weeks?
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
Had to say. I've been bloated since day 1 which made me look pregnant the whole time. I'm 17 weeks and definitely showing for real but I don't know when I made the transition. Lol
I put 12-13.
kiwi / 659 posts
I'm on the smaller side, so people who know me could tell around 8-9 weeks! I needed a Bella band then, too. To the general public, probably 14-15 weeks. Congrats!!!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
I was about 13/14 weeks when I started to show, but I'm really short (5'0") and I have a short torso. There was nowhere for it to go other than out!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
I'm still not showing at 19 weeks... just look a bit thick in the middle. I don't think I will show for another 4-5 weeks due to how tall I am and the fact that I have a long torso.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@LindsayInNY: I told work first, my MIL at Thanksgiving and my family at Christmas. I found out that my grandma was secretly thinking, "Daaaaang, *Espion* has really let herself go!"
Soooo, it took past 22 weeks for me to look pregnant and not fat, lol!
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@LindsayInNY: I think it depends on your body type. I'm really petite so I had a significant bump at 12 weeks.
pomegranate / 3706 posts
For people who knew me it was sooner, but I wasn't obviously pregnant to strangers until around 24 weeks with my first.
grapefruit / 4800 posts
My face rounded out right away with #1, it didn't with my 2nd though. But I had people guess around 7 weeks just because my face looked so different. By 12-14 weeks I'm pretty sure most people who knew me would have strongly suspected. By 16 weeks unless I was wearing winter wear it was probably pretty obvious to anyone who gave 2 looks.
coconut / 8079 posts
@LindsayInNY: I just changed my Facebook & DH's so no one can post to our walls. I will change the settings back once we are ready to share. We ended up telling our parents over FaceTime. I would have preferred in person but I just needed to tell them. I have been so sick that I think symptoms may give me away before a bump! Fx this is NOT the case for you!
grapefruit / 4819 posts
Around 24-25 weeks is when I started showing with my first. It was still a small bump (I didn't reach that yes, she is definitely pregnant stage until 28 weeks) but those who knew me could start to see a bump around 24 weeks. I'm tall but have a super short torso, so it should have been sooner, but my midwife said I had very tight abdominal muscles and I'd likely be on the small side my whole pregnancy (I was).
