I'm 7w3ds and curious about when I need to actually start to plan for this little one? I'm big into being prepared and planning. I want to hold off for a bit because I had a loss before and don't want to get carried away but I'm feeling hopeful that this is our take-home baby...Did you do anything to plan for baby in the first trimester or did your planning really kick in during the 2nd trimester?

I waited until my 12 week appointment because I also had a miscarriage before. But I literally came home from that apt and started researching.

I don't start anything (other than thinking) until after my 20 week ultrasound.

I didn't do any planning in the first trimester. I'm starting to look at things now and am keeping a private registry to keep track of things I think we might like. We are going to wait until our 18 week appointment when we should find out the gender, to start full-blown planning mode. I can't wait till 1/12!!

I did a lot of reading and such right away. I think around 20 weeks I actually started picking stuff out and ordering everything. We had the nursery pretty much put together with the big stuff (crib, curtains, etc) by around 7 months.

I’m 1 day shy of 16 weeks and haven’t started planning anything yet for a nursery (or for baby in general). Honestly, it’s really overwhelming to look at the billions of options for every last little item baby might need/want. I’m not planning on starting to even think about the nursery until we find out the gender next month.

We had a loss over the summer and are currently trying, but when the time comes, I'm thinking that we will wait until at least mid-second trimester. I forbid my mom to buy the baby anything until we were that far along last time, who knows next time though.

I'm planning all the nursery stuff now, before I'm pregnant. We intend to move when we get a BFP - so there'll be house-hunting, packing, and moving before I buy anything. Then, depending where we move, we'll be hauling stuff from my parents' place (books and furniture.) And my husband starts serious job-hunting next month - any other job will necessitate a move. Depending on how his job hunt goes, I could be half-way through pregnancy before I get to think about the nursery.

We start putting together his crib and other furniture after week 20... his nursery was pretty much done by week 36... we had our baby shower around week 34.. it's on the early side b/c I'm all about being prepared =P

I researched a lot during TTC, I am 20 weeks now, and we have decided on what we want, but haven't purchased anything other than a few CD's that were on sale. We are going to start ordering stuff/assembling the nursery etc after Christmas.

Im 19 weeks and havent done a blessed thing! DH and I will begin planning once we know the gender next week.

We started planning at the end of the second trimester.

I started reading from the get-go, but mostly about pregnancy. I didn't read any childcare books until third-tri. We started buying clothes and a few odds and ends around 16 weeks, and then I started researching purchases/gear shortly thereafter. The nursery was mostly a third-trimester effort, too.

I'm due in 2 mos and I have just begun to start planning. I think it's hard living in a small NYC apt. bc buying things too soon means giving up precious living space.

I started planning things right away, but didn't actually do anything. I just looked around a lot and saw what I liked. I am 29 wks now and JUST starting to think about working on the nursery!

We started planning pretty early on because my hubs and I rarely agree on colours and such. We also started early because we knew we'd be doing Pooh and the bedding set we wanted was being discontinued and reaaaaally cheap. I'm 32 weeks now and we're pretty much done. We just have to do a dresser swap after the holidays and we'll be finished other than shower gifts.

I'm 17.5 weeks and we haven't planned a thing yet! Having had a prior loss also, I wouldn't even think about it until after the 12 week mark. Then, we got very busy at work and it's the holidays so no time. We have our gender scan next week and I'm thinking that after the new year we'll start seriously thinking about the nursery. However, boy or girl we won't be painting the baby's room (it's currently a camel brown).

we ordered the crib, dresser and changing table when I was 19 weeks because there was a black friday sale. And this week I bought a little CD player for the baby and I am currently 23 weeks. Those are the only things we have bought so far

We are TTC and just have to get that pink line before the plan is in action. I'm an architect though - so planning spaces is what I do!

I don't think we'll plan until the end of the 2nd trimester... I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and haven't started any shopping yet!

Thanks, ladies! I think I'll do what some of you are suggesting and just start to "window shop" and when we're in the 2nd trimester and in the safer zone I'll get more serious!

I couldn't even set foot in BRU or BBB until after the first trimester. I was so worried about a miscarriage that I didn't allow myself to get excited or plan until we were out of the perceived danger zone.
