I'm hosting a bridal shower in March. I will be 13 weeks along then. I'm trying to decide if I should order a maternity dresses for the event. I've read that the site I'm looking at tends to have slower shipping. I'm 7 weeks right now and my clothes still fit me just fine. What do you ladies think?

I was in maternity clothing by then (maternity pants around 10 weeks!) but depending on the style of dress, probably could have worn a normal dress at 13 weeks. Maternity dresses can be rather large - so you may just consider getting a dress with an empire waist that's not maternity and you can wear it post-pregnancy : )
ETA: By 13 weeks, I had only gained 3 lbs, but did have a little belly. My chest might have been more of a factor in figuring out what dresses I could wear.

I started wearing a few maternity items around week 22. But I mostly wore dresses before that since it was around summertime.

Around Christmas time I was more than 20 weeks along and I wore a dress 1 size up and it was perfectly fine. It definitely depends on the material and cut of the dress, and how much you've gained so far.

I started wearing maternity pants by week 10, some tops and dresses looked just fine (depending on the style), until about 16 weeks. At 16 weeks my usual tops were all starting to get too short and looked funny. At 13 weeks you could probably get away with a flowy, wrap, or empire waisted dress, rather than a maternity dress though.

I'm 14 weeks now (but with twins) and definitely need maternity clothes, particularly pants. However, when I was 10 weeks (and therefore measuring around 14 weeks), even though I had a bump, I could still wear even my normal slimmer fitting dresses. Dresses are pretty forgiving!

I'm almost 13 weeks and am pretty petite. I just ordered some maternity jeans as my pre-prego jeans can't be buttoned or zipped any longer.

I started at 12 weeks. But it really just depends on the person. If you think you'll wear the dress again after the shower I'd buy it, and if you don't need it yet it's not like you wasted your money.

I started wearing maternity pants around 11 weeks, but wore a lot of my regular dresses until 30 weeks. I agree that maternity dresses tend to be a lot roomier so they will probably be too big for you at 13 weeks...I would try and find a regular dress with a comfortable fit.

I had some dressed I could wear for my entire pregnancy, especially if they were knit jersey. I'd probably just get one of those because you get more value for your money.

I'm 19 weeks now and still not wearing them. But I'm tall and most of my height is in my torso so there is a lot of room for baby to grow up insted of out. So much depends on your body but I think even if you are petite you would be fine in a dress you had already as long as it had room in the chest and wasn't super fitted.

i was wearing maternity clothes from around week 14? but just those comfy yoga kinda pants. i could have fit into all my old dresses. now the jeans, i had to hold them together with a hair-tie. lol.

By 13 weeks I was wearing mostly maternity clothing. I didn't gain any weight in my first trimester (lost weight actually), but the bump was there and big. I am petite with a long legs/short torso combo, so my doc said I would show more and early and boy was she right.

I needed a belly band by like 8-9 weeks. It was mainly just bloating at that point but I would have popped the buttons off my pants.

I started around 16-18 weeks I think. I still occasionally wear some of my longer non-maternity shirts still.

I wore the bella band from 13weeks to 15weeks. At 16 weeks i switch to maternity jeans and my gosh they are sooo comfy! I still wear non-maternity shirts though now at 18 weeks.

Once I hit 14 weeks, I needed to get maternity clothes. I love my maternity clothes! They are super comfortable!

I was in maternity pants at around 10 weeks (kind of early), but I can still wear a couple of my looser fitting non maternity dresses and I'm 30 weeks! If you have something that isn't skin tight, you should be fine, but if you want something new, get maternity so you can get some use out of it throughout your pregnancy.

I started wearing maternity clothes around week 19. I am still able to wear some of my pre-pregnancy pants and clothes with the help of a bella band

I'm 12 weeks right now and I started wearing some dresses I bought last week. They're not maternity, but just dresses with no defined waist.

I wore a Bella band starting around week 12 and switched to full on maternity jeans/shorts/pants this week (week 17). I'm short and pudgy if that helps
I don't think you'll need a maternity dress as long as what you'll be wearing is flowy.

I'm 24+5 and I still don't need to be in maternity clothes. I bought a few shirts around 18 weeks or so and wore them for comfort, but today most of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit. I just bought two pairs of pants, but likely wont be wearing them for a bit. I have one pair of jeans I can still button, and the rest I wear with my BeBand which I bought around 16-18weeks

I think I started wearing maternity clothes... 10 weeks into my pregnancy? I started feeling big/fat right away--maybe because I was eating uncontrollably.

@roccoandkirby: No. I wore a gorgeous regular dress--slightly empire waist--at my high school reunion at 15 weeks.
I was in maternity pants by 9 weeks, but tops---half of my tops are still "regular" now at 23 weeks although I am definitely not just showing, but obvious. -
Even though I'm tall, I still wound up in maternity jeans at 11 weeks. Regular jeans were just too uncomfortable on my bladder and I was having pretty bad heartburn. By about 20 weeks I was in all maternity tops too since my boobs got so huge. If they had stayed the same size I would still be wearing all my normal tops at 25 weeks since my belly isn't very big.
Unless you are very petite you probably won't be showing by then, so I would just wear a regular dress, but make sure it's big enough in the chest.
