My sisters kids are visiting and I was just chatting with my ten year old nephew, and he mentioned Santa and I was a little surprised he still believes! I think that's awesome! I was about eight when I found out he wasn't real. I still love the idea of Santa though

Ahhh mine is a little bit of a sad story. My parents didn't have a lot of money when we were younger. So when I was about 7 or 8 I wanted this particular gift. My mom kept dropping hints that maybe santa was out of it, there might be some sort of problem, etc. I was insistent that santa would find a way since i wanted it so much.
Finally my mom had to tell me that santa wasn't real and that she and my dad just couldn't afford it. But the story did have a happy ending. My dad snatched up every overtime he could to get me the damn thing. Now I want to buy one on eBay.

I was homeschooled from 5th-9th grade and though I wouldn't say I was in die hard belief I played along till I was about 14. Probably believed pretty strongly till I was 12. My parents never said he wasn't real and i don't plan to either. I hope my kids believe for a long time and its not hard on them to figure it out. Santa will always be real in spirit to me!

I was in third grade watching a Christmas in July special (so I guess before third grade).... I casually asked my mom and she just said no. She didn't even try to let me down gently!

I never believed. My parents did not believe in letting children believe in him, so I was told from the get-go he was a farse.

I was in kindergarten when someone spilled the beans. But I played along until 7 or 8 since I had a younger sibling.

It must have been pretty young, because I don't have any memories of actually believing. Santa was never a big deal in our house- there were never any gifts "from" Santa, he was just the bringer. I think my siblings and I were more interested in the reindeer

I was 9 when mom sat me down and told me after we opened presents. I was sad even though I had suspected it for a long time. Haha

We didn't do Santa at my house. When I was old enough to understand that other kids believed in Santa, my mom told me about Saint Nicholas and that anyone could be Santa by giving gifts to others, but that Santa was just pretend. She also told me to keep it our little secret because some kids believed he was real. I liked it being our little secret so that was cool with me. But we always knew presents came from mom and dad.

My mom said she didn't feel right about "lying" to us (i put that in quotations because it's totally not jidgy. She is pushing for us to do Santa with LO &I have no personal opinions on it either way!) but we always pretended we believed & like we could hear him on the roof & goofy stuff like that. It was so fun! My m believed until she was 12! We haven't really decided what we will do with Lo. I think we'll just vaguely go with the Santa thing & then take her lead. If she seems to really love him or not have the maturity to not tell other kids the truth & ruin it for them we'll keep it going lol

I don't remember! I had to have been 7 or 8?!
My brother put two and two together when he caught my mom hiding our Easter Baskets and realized she was te Easter bunny. A lightbulb went off and he realized that Santa & the tooth fairy weren't real.
Then he told our sister!

I do not remember an exact age. I just slowly realized that obviously he wasn't real. I think by the time I was in grade 2 I already knew.

My mom said I told her, "I think Santa is mommies & daddies," and she said she told me, "I think you are a very smart little girl." I think I played along & didn't ruin it for anyone for a while. I still loved Christmas! But I really want LO to believe in Santa for a long time.

I never did (we were a very religious household, and Christmas was about Jesus, not Santa), but we're going to encourage it with E. My favorite part of Christmas morning is hearing my nephews run through the house screaming that Santa came, and I want E to experience that.

My parents tried to tell us when we were probably 3 and 5. We refused to believe them and I carried a pretty strong belief in Santa until 9 or 10. They intended for us to focus on Jesus, but we were fully capable of both. I'm shooting do a similar balance with my kids.

One of the best parts of my childhood is that I believed in Santa for a very long time, I think until I was about 11. My mom believed in the innocence of childhood and I want to be able to provide that to my child.
