I've been kissing on the cheeks for a while now! I don't think it's a huge deal either way, but I just prefer the cheek. Plus, there's slightly less risk of colds and/or cold sores spreading.
I was a little worried that the kids might try to kiss other kids on the lips once they were school-aged, but have found that schools have very strict anti-kissing rules so that hasn't been an issue. Plus they don't really kiss their friends anyway.
When did you stop kissing your kids on the lips?

I didn't expect to ever stop because I grew up in a lip-kissing house, but I've found myself lately kissing L on the cheeks/forehead/etc. I still kiss K on the lips, but it seems I'm subconsciously stopping with L. Sometimes L wants a lip-kiss though, and I'm happy to give her one. I imagine I'll just follow her lead.

I often don't because of the germ issue. I kiss his cheeks non-stop but if I ask for a kiss, he gives me a lips kiss which I am ok with. I don't know when that will stop. I guess when he decides not to.

Hmm, good question.....I kiss her on the lips all the time right now! Maybe when she starts preschool? I don't know.....we will have to play it by ear.

4 in March and we still kiss her on the lips.

No idea, when she starts saying "gross mommy." My nieces are 5 and 7 and still kiss on the lips and I don't think it's weird, it's only family and they've never had issues with kissing in school or friends, they know it's for family and a show of love. I do give kisses more on the cheek right now that we both have colds, but if she leans in I oblige because I can't reject a kiss from my child.

I had no idea people kissed one another on the lips unless they were romantically involved.
Not sure, 4 maybe? (When she starts kindergarten/ school aged.)

I never thought I would kiss my son on the lips, I didn't with my parents, I had never seen it really.
Imagine my surprise when my son kissed me on the lips, just a peck. We went with it but I try not to do it when I am feeling sick.

I don't ever plan to start. My stance is that kissing on the lips is only for mommies and daddies. Helps keep germs contained too.
Edit: To clarify...I will kiss cheeks all day long

@chopsuey: Ha ha. Pretty much. I have no plans to stop kissing him on the lips anytime soon. My husband also kisses him on the lips. Unless my son actually wants to stop, then it'll continue forever and ever and ever and ever.

Whenever he no longer wants to, which I know one day will come. So far now, I will enjoy every kiss he gives me. Especially the ones with a big muah on the end.

@2PeasinaPod: @danda: Yep, me too! I've never kissed them on the lips and if relatives try it I do the head turn so they get my cheek! Although the only person who attempts is my grandma. Maybe that's why I think it's weird - my mom is a hugger and my dad always kisses the top of my head. Never the lips. I kind of shudder thinking about kissing my parents on the lips as an adult! Sorry ladies (and Mr. Bee,) it's a romantic-only thing to me.

For those of you that don't kiss on the lips, do you just turn your head when your baby tries to kiss you? I did not grow up kissing my family members on the lips so I had never really thought about this, until LO was about 6 months old and she grabbed my face and gave me a kissed my mouth. Now she does it all the time and i think it's super sweet.

@Madison43: When I ask LO for a kiss, he leans his head towards me for me to give him a kiss. He's never been a big lover, so when the rare occasion strikes that he wants to give an actual kiss, he goes for my cheek or forehead since that's what I do to him.

He was the one who initiated kisses on the lips - but he does plenty of cheek/nose/forehead kisses too. I'll stop when he wants to - at this point he would probably be pretty upset if I told him not to. He LOVES kisses haha.

I never really thought about this! I don't kiss my parents on the lips but I do kiss my toddler - he is 2.5 and I love a big fat mouth kiss from him ha ha ha I guess it will eventually stop and I will prob miss those baby days when it was 'appropriate'

I don't have LOs but I still kiss my parents on the lips! Not often but maybe 1 in 10 times I see them (see them about once a month or every other month) and we're not a very touchy feely family. Which is funny because DH grew up in a home that doesn't kiss on the lips...but they hug and kiss on the forehead/cheek a lot more than I had growing up and I often get uncomfortable with it if any of the affection comes my way. Stay out of my personal space bubble people. haha
He thinks it's weird that we kiss on the lips. Says he's never even thought about kissing his mom and dad on the lips. So funny how different it can be from one family to another.

It would never occur to me to kiss my son on the lips. I'd also think it was super creepy to see adults kissing their parents.

I am definitely a non-lips-kisser. My parents never did and I don't plan on doing it either.
