I know we've gone over this before but I couldn't find the thread.
At what age did you take your LO out in public for the first time? By public, I mean a place where there are lots of other people and kids, not just a walk in the park.

After her two month shots, as advised by our pediatrician!

We started taking him out to restaurants at around 2 weeks, and after that point felt ok taking him to restaurants, the grocery store, etc. We don't generally hang out in places where he'd be in contact with other kids, so I didn't worry about that.

8 days. Went to Homegoods (I was going stir crazy) I waited until late afternoon when I knew there wouldn't be very many people in there.

With DD, she was probably 6 or 7 days old the first time we took her to a restaurant. With DS, we went bowling when he was 5 days old, lol.

Took her to the grocery store around day 5. I was already stir crazy and recovering from a C-section but I had to get out!

Hopefully within a few days. One of my co workers is due any minute, and she plans to stay home for the first 90 days!!! (minus doctor appointments I'm sure) Apparently that's the way things are done in her culture (she's Indian)? I couldn't imagine staying home for that long.

Grocery store on the way home from the hospital, she wasn't even 48hrs old. We just kept her pretty much covered up and shopped really fast.

We wanted to wait until her 2 month shots, but my sister got married when she was a month old. It was small, 25 people, and we were careful and tried to keep her away from people.

4 days, after her first Ped. appt. I needed nursing bras and didn't get them ahead of time!

We had our first appt 5 days pp, then we took him to church at 11 days old. But I had him in the moby the entire time, we went grocery shopping after church.
Still, nearly everywhere we go, I have him in the moby. He doesn't like being in the carseat anyway.

DS was 6 days old when I went to a LaLeche League meeting then to a new mom's group. There were other new babies there, but no one too close to DS. Mostly we just went for walks and such. When we went to the store, I think he was closer to a month old and was in his infant seat with a blanket over him, so not too much exposure to other people. I always tried to keep him covered to keep strangers away. I HATE people touching DS.

@hilsy85: I remember seeing something on the boards about a 30 day Chinese confinement period and I thought that was a lot. I can't imagine 90 days!!!

We went to Starbucks after his hearing test at 3 days. I kept him closely snuggled against me so he wasn't exposed to much. At 6 days we went to the library, and at that point I realized those things were just too much for me post- c-section. But within a month he'd been to plenty of places; the pediatrician said not to worry about germs too much, so we didn't, even though Baby X was born in November (flu season).

2 months. I wanted to wait until her shots. I had a c-section, so it's not like I wanted to run all over town. Sitches weren't hout til 1week, I couldn't even laugh!

We took him on a really quick trip to the mall at one week old! I was super paranoid, though, and had his car seat covered with a blanket so people couldn't sneeze on him

Pediatrician appointments, lactation appointments, then breakfast at a restaurant at 1 week old.
