Did you wait for a signal that your kiddo was ready or did you set a time frame in your mind and go for it? I would love to transition DD to a real bed by 18-20 months but I don't know if I should just wait for her to be ready.

LO is 21 months and still in the crib. Our plan was to wait until baby #2 comes so they can have her crib and we'd get her a toddler bed..... but it really just depends on when she's ready. If we have to get another crib, we will.

We moved him when he expressed not wanting to sleep in the crib anymore, at around 22 months.

We moved her out at 2. I felt like she was ready and I did not want waste money to buy another crib for the baby!

My LO is almost 19 months, and we're working on transitioning him out of the crib. He's pretty close to the point of being able to climb out on his own.

We transitioned DD at 18 months, and plan to move DS at about 20 months. We moved DD because we needed the crib for #2.

We changed the crib to the toddler rail at 20 months in conjunction with potty training. There have only been two occurrences of DS getting out of bed by himself in the past 7 months.

I'm like @pelikila, I intend to transition my crib with toddler rails instead of transition to a toddler bed. I'm hoping we'll do this in about the 18 to 20 month period but we'll take it as it comes. DD will get her own crib at about that time and they'll probably be rooming in together by that point. Then when she hits his age, we'll assess.
