We had swimming when LO was 5 months old and we missed a lot of them because it was scheduled right when she would be napping. I think we'll wait until she's a bit older before we sign up again.

My husband and I learned to swim at age 2, so we're starting Lala this summer.

We will be starting LO in Spring here -so September or so. We live on the coast so I really want LO to be a strong swimmer. I will also have LO do a year of Nippers - surf lifesaving for LOs -as I think it's so important for kids (and adults) to be confident in the surf and be able to read the surf conditions.

We started around 11 months I think. The class was only once a week for about 45 minutes and DS loved it. Now we're doing a second session and he doesn't seem to like it as much, no idea why. This is the last of the organized swim classes until we start lessons at around age 3 for us.

There are more intensive water survival classes, those have a strict time commitment requirement.

My LO went in the pool for a lesson (kiddie pool with warmed, shallow water at the fitness center) for the first time at 8 1/2 mo. She loved it.

However, I didn't love it 4 hours later when she had a huge all-over body rash. Rinse that baby right away! My quickie rinse at the pool was not good enough.

We started when LO was 7 months old. It was more to have an activity together than swimming classes per se. He loved it and we're doing a second session now. It's great because he's getting used to the water and it's not afraid anymore.

DD had her first official lesson last weekend; she's almost 2. She's been swimming in the pool and in the lake before, but last weekend was the first formal less she's ever taken.
