@Adira: we always top off before we go to bed and did the paci trick with E! It worked great! Most of his feedings are already day feedings so I'm hoping we can stay with that! He will go a 5 hour stretch in the MOTN, though.

DS, 12.5 months (weaned at 13 months)
DD, 14.5 months (weaned around 14.5 months).
Neither ever had long 6-8 hr stretches before STTN.

@blackbird: How old is he? Hopefully he'll start giving you some longer stretches in the MOTN soon.

I'm not sure if this thread makes me feel good or bad!
Good because we aren't the only ones no where near STTN at 6 months, (1 wakeup 12:30ish, 1 5ish); Bad because it looks like we may have a ways to go to get there, if at all!

Some of the time at 7 weeks, almost all of the time at 4 months. DS always loved sleep, and did 4-6 hour stretches at less than a week old.

This makes me feel so much better. I literally have 4 irl friends whose babies were sleeping 9-7 by like 8-10 weeks. I have 0 friends with babies that wake up at night. I've tried the late bed time with both of my kids...it just doesnt work.
Lo1 didn't drop his night feed until 12 months. We had a month of sttn, then 3 months of teething hell. He has been sttn for a while now but we struggle with early wake ups.
Lo2 is 3 months and sleeps 7-3, then 3-6:30 most nights.

This thread is making me want to wean. Kidding! Sort of...

16 months. Occasionally before then, but not on any regular basis.

It's been on and off. She was sttm around 9-11 mo, then got sick, only started again for a week at 13 mo and now again this week at finally 16 mo.
The alternate problem is that she wakes up stupid early. Before 6 am most days regardless of bedtime.
I hate it...

My son started sleeping for 8-hour stretches around 15 months, right after he started walking. He weaned around 27 months.

My older one didn't STTN until 11 months but then suddenly did every day, he was still BF.
My younger one STTN from months 2.5-4. Now at 4.5m she's up twice! (Oh how I wish those STTN days back).
pomelo / 5326 posts
At around 7/8 months she started sleeping right through the night, 730-730. Before that she was waking up at 5am to feed but went right back to sleep.

18 months. I weaned him from nursing at 12 months and his sleep drastically improved, but still wasn't consistently STTN. It wasn't until we bottle weaned him that he did. Should have done that sooner, but hey, he is now so yay!!! It's been a long time coming. omg!!

LO1 - EBFed and started STTN (consistently sleeping for 8+ hours without any wakeups) around 8 weeks.
LO2 - EBFed and didn't start STTN (consistently sleeping for 8+ hours without any wakeups) around 7 months and it only happened after we sleep trained. Prior to that she'd STTN for a couple weeks then regress to multiple wake ups a night. So we knew she was capable of STTN, we just needed to train her to be more consistent.

Around 10 months (sleeping 11-12 hrs straight). Prior to that she was "STTN" for a few months but she'd wake up super early to nurse and then go back to sleep for an hour or two, so I don't really count that.

DD1 night weaned at 11 weeks and slept 12-13 without wakeups.
DD2 STTN from four weeks until four months and then had a few weeks of multiple wake ups and is back to STTN now at five months.

About eight weeks she would sleep from around 10:30-7:30. Now at almost 17 weeks she usually sleeps from 9:30-7:30 unless I wake her up earlier so I can feed her before work

DD is 10.5 months old and waking 4-5x a night. I can't wait to wean and hopefully get her back on track sleep-wise.

When i was home on mat leave she would consistently sleep 10-5 5:30-8/9ish... it was great. As soon as I went back to work when she was 14 weeks old she was up 4-5 times a night. This continued on to some degree. At 10 months we sleep trained and night weaned and still had 1-2 wake ups. At 14 months we weaned completely had some full nights and some 1 wake ups and she would be up for the day at like 4:45-5:30. At 17 months she finally started sleeping through from 8:30-7 consistently.

@oliviaoblivia: I really hope we strike baby sleep gold 2x with DS2!
DS1 night-weaned himself and started sleeping 12-13 hours at 11 weeks. Minor regression at 4 months and back to STTN shortly thereafter. He was EBF until 13 months. He's only had wakeups when sick, teething, and/or recently nightmares. He's 2.5 now.

Still waiting at 20 mo. I don't nurse her until 5/6, but she usually wakes up before that and DH goes in to sleep with her until she only wants milk at 5/6. I then sleep another hour or two with her.

Sleeping 6-10hr stretches from about 3 months, then a regression, then started consistently sttn at about 7 months. He was EBF to around 8 months when we started mix feeding. Although I loved the sleep, we had weight gain issues from 3 months, and I always wonder if I'd imposed a dream feed or woken to feed in the night, whether it would have made a difference....oh well! I have a lovely 15 month old who nearly always sleeps 11-12hrs straight and is probably always going to be small!
