Right after the first dose or later on?
LO started amoxicillin (second time on it) on Friday and she got a rash yesterday after her 4th dose. We have an appointment later today so I will request a new med.

This just happened with my LO. He has taken amoxicillin 3 times before with no reaction. We noticed a rash after his 3rd or 4th dose but he was acting normal. His fever with his ear infection had only been at 100.8 at the highest. We called the ped (because of course the rash appeared on a Sunday) and he thought it was a viral rash. He instructed us to keep taking it as long as he had no respiratory distress and was otherwise acting normal. The rash also didn't look like hives so he wasn't concerned. The rash cleared within 2 days. So maybe it's just a viral component too?

Several days into the second treatment. She had the non-allergic rash the first time she had the treatment but definitely blew up with allergic reaction the second time.

@Canoli: ah ok, maybe viral rash. She has pneumonia so I am not sure if her strange breathing around the same time was related to that or just being sick!

On the last day of a 10 day course, the second time he was given abx. Day care sent him home with suspected fifths disease.

@autumnlove: if you think it might be a viral rash make sure you let your OB know. I'm going through this right now - my daughter has a viral rash and I'm 4 weeks pregnant. Apparently quite a few viruses that cause rashes can be harmful to fetuses, even if mom has no symptoms. My ped and OB are concerned. hope your daughter's is nothing to worry about!

DS had two previous rounds with no reaction. Then the last time he had it, we finished a 10 day course and he broke out in the worst hives/rash I've ever seen on him the day after the last dose.
