My kids were peanuts - only 5 lbs at birth! I think they doubled their birth weight around 2 months. My first was 18 lbs at a year and my second was 19.5 lbs at a year. Small kids!

I think when a baby is THAT big at birth its going to take longer than average to double! My son was exactly double his birth weight at his 4 month appointment... but he was only 6lb 4oz at birth.

Around 3 months. But like some PP's babies, she was tiny at birth. I would imagine to takes longer to double 9+ pounds than 5 pounds! My LO is already triple her birth weight at 9 months (17 pounds now), yours would have to be over 28 pounds!

My first (10lbs 1oz) was around eight months.
My second (8lbs 10oz) was around five months.

Bigger babies take a bit longer to double.
If my third (10lbs 12oz) triples by one year, she'll be bigger than my three year old.

DS1 was 9lbs1oz at birth. He doubled his weight by 6 months old.

DS2 was 7lbs9oz at birth. He doubled his weight by 3 months. His love for food knows no bounds. Lol

DD2 has doubled her birth weight at 4 months (was 7lb8oz). I can't remember DD1! But I think around the same age.

3 months; she was born 6 something and at 3 months she was 12 something.

Mine hasn't yet, at 6 months. 9.14 at birth and I think maybe 15 right now.

My wee man was 9lb 12oz at birth (GD baby), didn't double his birth weight till nine months and is now on the fiftieth percentile for both height and weight.

At 2 months for LO 3. She was 6 lbs and 2 ounces. I think it was 2-3 months for my other kids too.

DS was 3,840g at birth and 7,500g at 3 months.
DD was 3,480g at birth and 6,960g at 6 months.

Around 6 months. She was almost 8 lbs at birth. She was about 19 lbs at 1.

7 months and then lost a pound so regained at 9 months.

She's a tiny peanut though.

LO doubled by 4 months (born 6 lb 7 oz) but has slowed way down since then and wasn't even 17 lbs at her one year.

Question, are ya'll doing this by memory? Because I totally had to look it up on her online health record I can barely even remember her birthweight anymore!

@LuLu Mom: I love hearing about other small LOs. Some kids have to be little, right?! But it seems like every other baby I know is a huge chunk

Well LO was 1lb15oz....it prob took 3 months to double...all in NICU of course He quadrupled it before we left...then it prob took nearly a year for him to double his going home weight of 8lbs.

@simplyfelicity: I am glad your ped isn't worried but I understand your concern! I think with your DS being so big at birth and so active now that he is mobile, that probably explains it. To answe your question, I think both babies had doubled by 6-9 months, with LO1 not hitting it until closer to 9 and LO2 by 6 I think?

I just checked, J was a big baby (9 lb 5 oz) and just barely doubled at 6 mo (18 lbs 11.5 oz), but my doctor didn't mention it as a thing, he has always just noted how J's growing exactly on his curve (right around 75% weight and 65% for height)

3 months and a week. He was 8lbs10oz when born and 17lbs4oz this last week.

9 pounds at birth, 18 pounds just shy of 3 months. kids an eating machine. but didnt really gain between 9 and 12 months.

@simplyfelicity: I clearly didn't shoot for smaller babies! Haha! My biggest arrived ten days early. I labored for 57 hours with my first and then cut to the chase with the next two. I'm so grateful for c-sections!
