Our LO is smaller than we anticipated - he's currently in newborn sizes. I bought way more 0-3! He's 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 in long. What size/weight did your LO fit into 0-3 clothing?

She was similar size at birth, it took her about 3-4 weeks to outgrow the newborn stuff.

Lo was a bit early but still 6.4lbs at birth. She was in newborn up till 3 months. Now at 5 months she is in mostly 3-6 but still has a few neborn things and 0-3 that fit. She is around 12 or 13lbs now.

Probably not until 8 weeks, but we brought M home at under 5 pounds. We had to send my mom out for preemie clothes!
pomegranate / 3858 posts
I'd say 8 or so weeks, but she was 5lbs 8 oz. She grew out of some NB sooner than others so there was overlap.

Pretty much right away...within a week or two? But he was a bigger baby (8lb,12oz and 20")
coconut / 8498 posts
He's the same size as my LO- exactly! She wore NB clothes for about a month before she got too long.

Ours took like 5 weeks! He lost a lot of weight at birth and was like 6 pounds 8 ounces at his lowest, I think. So he had to gain that back and then some. But once he did, he became a porker and went through 0-3 and 3-6 clothes reallllly fast.

I think it was around a month when we started putting him in them and he wasn't swimming, completely, in them

3-4 weeks she outgrew NB, but she fit into 0-3 after a couple of weeks.. She was born @ 6 lbs 14 oz.

Baby cakes will be 6 weeks on Thursday, and is still in NB. They are definatly getting snug, but the 0-3 is still kind of big on him! I have no idea what he weighs now, but I do know that he was 8lbs 3oz at his last appointment on 5/16.

DD was the same size and I want to day it took 5 weeks for her to get out of the newborn clothes.
pineapple / 12793 posts
DD wore 0-3 months until she was five weeks old. NB was too small.
grapefruit / 4819 posts
DD was a similar size, 7lbs 6oz, 21 inches (6 lbs 14 oz when we brought her home though) and she wore NB until about five or six weeks when she grew into her 0-3 clothes. Mind you she wore a lot of her 0-3 outfits those first few weeks, even though they were a bit big, but we just didn't have enough NB clothes and I wasn't going to go buy more! They start filling out pretty quickly so he'll be into them in no time I'm sure!
nectarine / 2667 posts
It was a couple of weeks, maybe 3? He was 7 lbs 13 oz at birth and grew pretty quickly. But, like @Ree723: we started using 0-3 even when they were "big".
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
About 4 weeks, cause she was getting to long for newborn. She was 9.14 at 5 weeks. She probably could have worn newborn a little longer but I was sick of them since we didn't have many.
pomegranate / 3706 posts
Our LO was 7lbs at birth, 6lbs 3oz when we brought her home, and only 18 inches long, but within 3-4 weeks she was into her 0-3 month stuff.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@grizz: I did the same bc everyone was all like, "They'll only wear NB for a few days, if that!" SO I had about 6-8 NB outfits, and then LO was a peanut at 6 lbs, 9 oz and then 6 lb 3 oz when we left the hospital. She was in NB until 5 ish weeks. And we didn't even get to use all of the NB outfits, just stuck with the sleep n plays, bc whoever thought that those 3 piece ensembles with a onesie and pants and something else for a NB is just dumb. I wasn't putting anything over that wobbly head.....We just used pajamas...Not like we went very many places anyway in those first five weeks! The sleep n plays we had were WORN OUT, lol:)

@PrincessBaby: We had a very similar experience . . . I had to buy some preemie clothes because the NBs were swimming on LO! And yeah, ain't no way no how were we going to put anything on/over her teeny tiny wobbly head and noodley neck! She wore a lot of kimono tops and dipes the first week or so!
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
She wore newborn until about 11 or 12 weeks. She was born 7lbs10oz but got down to 6lbs12oz. She just started chunking up, and I'm guessing she's about 14lbs now at 4 months. Her 0-3 will need to be retired in the next 2 weeks or so, but her 3 months fit perfectly!
papaya / 10473 posts
@PrincessBaby: @MsLipGloss: Same here! DH and I both get nervous about pulling anything over his head so we are wearing out the kimono tees and the sleep n plays!
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@grizz: and if you can find the sleepers that zip, they are *clutch* for middle of the night changes . . . no need to match up any snaps!

She will be 6 weeks Saturday and is still in NB clothes but I'm starting to put her in some 0-3 stuff cause she's so long.

About 3-4 weeks. DD was 7 lbs 15 oz, and DS was a wee bit smaller at 7 lbs 14 oz.
bananas / 9973 posts
About 8-10 weeks I started putting her in some 0-3. Still wearing 0-3 at 14 weeks.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
@grizz: She's seven months and she still does, lol! Not length-wise though, just on her top half. I think she started wearing them at a month old, and they were probably quite big on her then.
pineapple / 12234 posts
@PrincessBaby: you're hilarious! I remember buying so many adorable, fancy newborn outfits that were never worn mainly because I didn't want to dress her fragile tiny body in anything but a sleeper!
We picked up newborn sleep and plays after she was born since those (with zippers) were the ONLY thing I wanted to dress them in. Most of the 0-3 month clothing wasn't worn until 7/8 weeks!
pomelo / 5621 posts
Right away. I didn't even have any newborn outfits. He was 9lbs 5 oz though. At about 8-9 weeks he was outgrowing some of the smaller 0-3 and now at 12 weeks is mostly wearing 3-6. He is also currently over 14 lbs.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
My son was the same size, around 7 and a half pounds and I think we made it to the 0-3 month sizes at around 3 months.
pomegranate / 3516 posts
We just put her in 0-3 within the first week. She was born 8lb 5oz and 21 inches long. I think we started around 5 days old or so.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
This is really helpful! I don't want to put anything over a wobbly head either so ill be getting a few more sleepers and that's it! I have two so far
pineapple / 12526 posts
C fit in 0-3 from about 11-13lbs. She was in 6-9 by 4 months old, she was 16lbs at the time.
She was 10lbs8oz at birth and still wore NB for the first 2 weeks.
pomegranate / 3398 posts
I'm gonna say probably 2 weeks...she's mainly in 3 to 6 month clothes now and she's just 2 months old. And she was 3 weeks early but 7lbs 13oz 21inch at birth.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
2 weeks -- but she was also 8 lbs 10 oz when she was born, it was about the time she regained her birth weight that she was into 0-3 month.
