A few weeks, but we put him in 0-3 months right from birth with similar measurements. LO weighed 7 lbs 6oz at birth. The first few weeks were hectic enough, so I didn't even think about the newborn clothing we received.

We started putting him in 0-3 month stuff around 3-4 weeks. Some of it was still a bit baggy on him but not OVERLY baggy, he just grew into it more over the following few weeks. He was about 9.5 lbs when he was 4 weeks old. He's always been on the shorter side and his waist is narrow so pants that are sized to his current weight tend to be a little loose and long, whereas onesies and rompers are more "true to size."

DD wore 0-3m clothes until she was 6m. DS wore 0-3m clothes until he was 3m.
